So bummed to hear this. He was always so cool to me after we did a couple interviews for Earcandy back in the day Always offering to put me on the guest list when he came to town. Plus of course I loved all his music. I am really still in shock.

Ah that sucks, not sure how or when I first heard him, but always liked his clean jangly power-pop songs. I hadn't kept up with him in years, so although he died way too young, glad to hear he was still active and performing. I do remember putting a song on a mixtape for a "punx" dude in high school and we were sitting around drinking and when the song came on he said "This sounds like Bryan Adams". Haha.

In case some might not have heard him, here are two songs I remember liking a lot both had "All" in their titles and a clip from the (old) 9:30 Club!

Never a big fan of Tommy the singer-songwriter, but I have nothing but admiration for someone who has given their entire life to the cause of rock'n'roll.

I am especially heartbroken as I know he was a big part of a plan for one of my favorite bands of all time to reunite next summer. I only hope the rest of the guys see this is as a wake-up call and push through regardless. Life is (literally) too short to waste.

Thanks for that clip Flex, the first time I saw him was 9/89 at the old 9:30 Club, so just a few months before that show.

Here's an excellent podcast series that covers most of his career, done in Sept of this year in Bethesda, MD:

I learned some interesting stuff about him and The Replacements that I was not aware of, plus his work with Jules Shear too.

I'd seen him live when Dot Dash opened for him in NYC a few short years ago. I started listening to his Hits collection and new album more and more and it hooked me in. This is a shock. I know he WANTED to sell out. He WANTED to get a big deal, big tour, BIG album. He'd paid his dues.

What did he die from, BTW...?

Apparently he can't-some people really suck:

So some TK songs came up on the Echo Dot I was listening to yesterday after some Buffalo Tom (just caught Bill Janovitz last Sat-great show), so I decided to just pop over to his site and saw this 6/20 post:

I told myself not to look at Ebay-DON'T look

But I did. I found a seller selling TK's "autographed" cancelled personal checks in a package. Maybe I am taking this too personally but this really pissed me off. F%ckin Ghouls (if more than one) that hopefully will get payback someday

It's funny that this thread popped up again, as this weekend I am about to see that band play their first proper shows in 20 years. And they continue to talk about Tommy all the time on various social media and how he was a big part of their decision to play again. It only took an extra year.

E-Dog - any chance I'll see you in Somerville on Saturday?

He will be on my patio with a Budweiser in hand eating BBQ and listening to music or at the Pub Crawl in Catasauqua.

Feel free to stop by on Friday or Saturday. Don't bring Midge with you because he doesn't like BBQ.
