I'll be going to the Long Island show on Sunday.

In part because both of my bands are opening up....but mostly because Samiam is one of the greatest bands ever!

Enjoy the show (no set list spoilers).....I do hope they play at least a few songs from their earlier days.

I thought Samiam were great. Very nice guys who were just hanging out the whole night....they watched every band...hung out with everyone.

It was a great performance....my only criticism being that they played nothing from the New Red Archives years....everything was from Clumsy on forward. But it was still a great set of music for sure.

To be honest, I don't think they've played any songs from before Clumsy...pretty much since Clumsy came out. They didn't play the bay area between like 96 and 2000, but I've pretty much seen every show they've played here since 2000. I've still never heard them play Don't Break Me.

I was talking to them before the show.

They clearly aren't big fans of their own early records, but Jason was saying a big part of the problem is that they all live in different places. Some of them live in California, one of 'em lives in Florida, and two of 'em live in Brooklyn....so it's not like they're getting to practice all the time and can work up older songs.

They did play "Clean" a couple of times on this latest mini-tour....and I was told they do OCCASIONALLY break out "Underground", "Sky Flying By", "Slumbering", and "Regret".

But at our show, unfortunately, they didn't play any of those. Still a great set of songs, though.

Can't say I like that much after "Billy".

Was just listening to a live set from 89 or 90 from a Gilman show I was at (we used to just climb up the sound booth and pop in a cassette). Sloppy set, and the songs were pretty derivative of the Doughboys at times, but good and catchy.

Not sure I've seen them since 96.

Cool, the Very Small World comp was my first VS purchase. After that was the Four Two Pudding which contained the Samiam track. Bought a few more, Econochrist, Sleep, Jawbreaker and the OPIV bootleg.

And simply because I'm a lunatic and was a completist, I had every single VS release for a long time. I was able to score the Corrupted Morals 7" at the Epicenter record store back in the day. And whenever David had a new release, this record collector used to sweat.

The 23 More minutes/Logical Nonsense was underappreciated. I played the 23MM side so many times. They and David stayed at my house in Staten Island while on tour. Totally awesome guys. Very funny as well.
