Fun House is the best rock and roll record ever made. That is all.

They need to erase those recent records from history though.

The Stooges are the greatest American RnR band & Funhouse is the best album by anyone ever. The new one is very good too. I listen to it a lot.............

Maybe I'm splitting hairs, but I wouldn't call Pet Sounds, Astral Weeks, or Forever Changes rock'n'roll records.

I wouldn't either. I've never heard of two of 'em.

I think you guys must be joking, especially since Forever Changes has been discussed here quite a bit. Never heard I can believe, but not never heard OF.

OK, one is Love and one is Van Morrison. I couldn't hum a tune of either.

My knee-jerk reaction is "you have to hear them!", but I'm not sure either would be either of you two's bag. FC is chamber pop and AW is Celtic folk/jazz. Here are the "hits" from each:

I actually really like Ready to Die, though it's closer to Kill City and New Values than to Raw Power on occasion.

Those are up there, too, though I wouldn't really call Pet Sounds a rock and roll record (more orchestral pop/chamber-pop mixed with some rock and roll).

Elvis Costello is my favorite artist and The Beach Boys are one of my all-time favorite bands, though!

The Damned (in the mid '80s) did a cover of the Love song that VS posted, but there are much, much better songs on that record!

I don't like to do this, but if you like music (and obviously you do), you need Forever Changes in your collection in one of its myriad versions/reissues. It's like Belle and Sebastian, but in 1967 and with darker lyrical themes.
