Rites of Spring Lp pressing question

Rites of Spring Lp pressing question

Postby JGJR » Sat Dec 18, 2021 9:24 am

A friend very kindly gave me a spare copy of this version yesterday. $8 ppd on the back. Sounds great; not sure if I'll also keep the 2009 remaster now that I have an older pressing, but anyway my question is if any of you fellow Dischord scholars know when this was pressed. Late '80s? That seems early. My guess is sometime in the '90s. It's definitely before the 2009 pressing/vinyl revival/download code stuff.

Using the prices of fugazi records,I'd say between 95 and 98

Lungfish - Indivisible came out in ‘97 and was $8.00 ppd, so thereabouts.

More like ‘88. Wig Out was ‘87 and was still $5.00. The Ignition LP was ‘88 and was $6.00.

$8.00 price on the sleeve has been used up to 2006. When the remasters hit prices went up on the sleeve or dropped at all, with a few exceptions perhaps Dischord still had some unused sleeves or didn't bother to update the sleeves (Naton Of Ulysses e.g.)

I've had my $6 copy of Wig Out since 1993. I think it had been sitting in that now long defunct store (same one I got Can I Say brand new at in '91 and I think that's also $6) for years.
