Mike Nesmith Has Died at the Age of 78

The Monkees are my favorite American band of the '60s and Mike is the biggest reason why. A highly underrated songwriter (and singer), he hit a perfect sweet spot between folk, country and pop that is candy to my ears. I'll post a couple of my favorite Nesmith tunes:

Jesus. He was just touring. Did he know he was dying?

I never heard anything, but they were pretty adamant this was the last time they'd be on tour. No hedging of bets. And he was awfully frail. So glad I went.

Nez was a Christian Scientist who avoided doctors/medicine except in the most extreme of circumstances. He had serious heart issues that resulted in quadruple bypass surgery around 3 tears ago. It's likely he didn't exactly keep up with prescribed medicine and therapy recommendations afterwards.
I mean, 78 isn't bad. Neither of my parents and none of my grandparents made it to 78. But the idea that someone could have lived a longer, healthier life if not for some religious conviction that told them to do otherwise will never not piss me off. No. 3,212 on an ongoing list of shitty things religion has wrought.

Somehow I'm fb friends with his daughter. Apparently, she's a punk rocker type. She was dating Stan Lee from the Dickies, and did one of those punk rock karaoke vids. Although judging by her recent pics, it looks like she's hanging out with East Bay Ray. She is a fucking cutie, no doubt. I'm slightly obsessed with her. Anyway, it looked like she was very close with her dad. So I feel terrible for her. Losing a parent is unfathomable to me. Yet, at our age, that shit is likely not that far off in the distance.
Also, he was my favorite Monkee.
