P.S.: What is that thing up on the wall... an AC unit or something?

I plan on putting some shelving there for additional storage.

That's an HVAC unit on the wall. It's brand new, but I still did not want to put the audio equipment directly under it. We have a three car garage, with two in the front and one behind. Cut the back one off and made it into the record room. So it needed its own HVAC.

This thread is for posters who can't count.

Neil Young - Decades

(Disc 2. Or maybe it's Disc 3. I don't know for sure.)

I was just listening to a song off the new NY & Crazy Horse album. Made it about 2 minutes. I should be more selective in my use of the word 'ponderous'. It should be reserved to describe the new NY & Crazy Horse album.

Decided that I will spend the next day or so going through the Terry Hall discography in chronological order (I'm missing the Terry, Blair & Anouchka LP, though.) Starting with the first Specials LP right now.

Last 5 things is a retrospective thread for people who like to list things. This is a thread for people who want to comment on what they are listening to right fucking now, instead of saving it up to spit out in a tidy little list.

The Smiths - The Queen is Dead (super deluxe)

Hey Greg, I assume you keep up with such things: are there any more Smiths super deluxe releases in the works?

Still available sealed with seam split for $12 at https://pukenvomitrecords.com/products/misfits-walk-among-us-alternate-takes-used-lp?_pos=37&_sid=d33017ce4&_ss=r. This is the “Plan 9 version” of WAU mastered from a promo cassette. Sounds just fine. A fun alternative to the official version. I gotta ask, where the fuck are these bootleggers getting their vinyl pressed? This is a better pressing than a lot of new official vinyl I’ve bought recently. How is it that they can get it right and some legit labels can’t? Mind boggling.

Meant to thank you for posting this... my copy arrived today, listening now... I don't usually care for bootleg/alternate take type releases, but for $12, this was a fuckin' steal...

I may make this a thread unless someone beats me to it, but yeah "The Boiler" is super rough. The only other song I can think of that's as difficult to listen to if not more so is "Frankie Teardrop" (from the s/t 1st Suicide record).

I actually like this one enough that I would have felt okay paying full price. I’ve been listening to the standard version since like 1983, and this one is just different (and good) enough that I’ll probably reach for it instead of the real thing for a while.

You all are tempting me to get this; I don't usually spring for boots, either. How did you all pay $12, though. It looks like it's full price ($21) here.

They had some that were still sealed but with seam splits that were $12. I guess they sold out of those. Depending on how big a fan of WAU you are, it might still be worth it at $21. At the very least, you could resell for a profit it you didn’t like it. It seems to go for around $30 on eBay.

Made it through The Colourfield last week. Ordered a cheap copy of the Terry, Blair & Anouchka LP from Denmark. Also missing the Vegas LP, which has a brilliant single. A little pricey for a vinyl copy, but I'll probably throw down.

Listening to the two Terry Hall solo LPs from the 90s. Some really good tracks on these. His performance of a couple songs from the first solo album on Jools Holland were outstanding. I prefer Angie Pollock's backing vocals on the live version.

When I saw the "split seam' qualifier and it was only $12, I though it meant that like a whole side or the spine was coming undone... Here's what mine looks like:

Nice; I don't own any of the stuff at the moment (had the s/t) though I've got a copy of Chino's Mala Leche, but I listened to Sell Out Young on Spotify the other day. Great stuff, but my favorite is still The Title is the Secret Song. I don't understand how some of that stuff remained unreleased until 2009/2010.

Oh VU "Run Run Run" and now Yo La Tengo's cover of Cat Stevens' "Here Comes My Baby" from a playlist I made of last night's setlist. If any of you are so inclined, here ya go:

Just the typical sad story of a brilliant artist who struggled with all the usual temptations and stumbling blocks... drugs, poor organization, shifty managers, bandmates etc. I'm pretty good friends with the guy who released the Green Fields in Daylight anthology CD in the late 90s, and he wants to put out proper releases for a lot of the stuff that's still in the vaults, but refuses to have anything to do with any hypothetical project while Carlos (Alex's brother) is still alive.

Interesting; I knew a little about Alex's struggles and am aware vaguely of the stuff that happened with them and Rock Hotel, et al. because we have a mutual friend who knew him well when he was alive, but not about the stuff still left in the vaults. I'm not surprised, though; they released so little and were around a long time. It's a shame that stuff won't come out sooner (if at all), though; The Title is the Secret Song is such a hodgepodge (though great).

Most of the stuff "in the vaults" is either Chino, Los Patos (some of which is actually on the TTITSS, wrongly credited as the Nils) and Nils live sets.

And yeah, that Zero Boys is the newest repress ... was just released this month:

Currently listening to the "Waiting" LP. The closer, "Well Fancy That" is the toughest song to listen to this side of "The Bolier."

Shipping from Europe has been super quick lately. Received the Terry, Blair & Anouchka LP already and listening now. Pretty good pop album.

Watchtower - Energetic Disassembly
Listening to Punk today is like listening to Glenn Miller in 1982.

The Doors - S/T

Great record. I don’t care what anyone says to the contrary.

I’m on a Royal Trux kick. The breadth of their oeuvre is remarkable.

Today's listening:

Buck 65 - Laundromat Boogie A concept album about laundry.
Life Is Change - Volume Two Euro comp LP from 1991. Bought this because there are two Vagrants songs from my favorite era of the most underrated band of the 90s. Also two Samiam songs I hadn't heard from the "Soar" lineup.
Autograph - Sign In Please I generally can't hang with this sort of stuff, but I remember hearing the single when it came out and it was hella catchy. Album still holds up pretty well.
