Covid Booster...

Postby xxxMidgexxx » Tue Nov 23, 2021 9:13 pm

Here I come. My appt is Fri. The day after Thanksgiving.

I hope I don't throw up my dinner from the night before all day long. heh heh. That would be a bummer.

Funny semi-related story. When I was in college, I started working midnights in an emergency room. I had to do an overnight on Thanksgiving after dinner.
An ambulance comes in with a 500 lb lady on a stretcher with an oxygen mask. She aspirated and wound up puking up all her dinner, had a heart attack and died right in front of me.

It was my first night working alone and I nearly had a breakdown. I started weeping. The nurse manager came to me and told me that if I couldn't handle seeing shit like that, then I probably shouldn't be working in the E.R. I thought that was incredibly cold, but I went on to work there for many years and saw a lot worse than that.

Oh well. Enjoy your holiday. And don't get Covid.

I'm on team Pfizer and got my booster last night. So far so good, but the way it went after #2, I'm still expecting the worst.

Damn Midge. That's a wild tale...

Got my booster on 11/5, Pfizer. Very minimal side effects. Little tired, sore arm.

I think I had a fever and was sluggish about 20 or so hours after my booster. I took a nap for about an hour or so late afternoon the next day and woke up feeling back to normal.

Getting my booster on 12/1. Funny how people are trying to 'hack' the process - "If you got Pfizer, your booster should be Moderna. It'll be even more effective." Not everything has a cheat code!

I failed to mention that I got the flu shot the same day as my Moderna booster.

I had the Moderna booster a few weeks ago. Felt pretty crappy for a couple of days, got a fever. Took some Tylenol and that helped. Similar side effects to the first 2 shots. If you can, I recommend getting the shot on a Friday afternoon so you can shake off the side effects (if you get them) over the weekend.

I was lucky enough to get mine on a Friday afternoon. I went to a pop up clinic the local hospital setup in an old retail store in a strip mall to initially setup an appointment because they publicly said they were no longer doing walk ups. They ended up taking me in for the shot right away so I was only there for about 20-25 minutes including the 15 minute wait after getting the shot.

Got my booster and flu shot on Monday. Also got the kid her first shot, and my wife went out to Virginia and got her second Moderna shot (she originally got the J&J single dose, which apparently doesn’t do shit). Thankfully, none of us had reactions any worse than sore arms.

I got my booster 2-3 weeks ago at a CVS; I actually have to go back there to update my card, which I don't carry around (just scanned it and carry around a digital version on my phone). I had J&J, so I was eligible earlier than most of you, I'm guessing. I got the Pfizer and my recovery symptoms were similar to what you all describe. I was tired/out of it/sluggish the next day, but the day after that, pretty much back to normal.

Got my booster yesterday and it kicked my ass today. Joints hurt and nauseous all morning. Better now, hopefully back to normal tomorrow.

Would I be considered a prick if I had a list of people that I'd prefer DIDN'T get vaccinated?

I mean there are more than just a few people that really should be wiped off the Earth.

Dang. Your definition of “funny” is pretty cold.

I’ve seen some people die violently right in front of me, and I mean, other than the comedy that can come with obesity, didn’t see a lot of chortle cues there. :)

On the booster front tho: No shots for me. I already had C19 (wasn’t any big deal for me, thankfully!) and am happy to see via a recent blood test that I’ve got nature’s own organic, homegrown antibodies still chugging away strong over a year later!

"Funny" in the rhetorical sense, later on. But I actual wept when it happened.
