I agree. I don’t dig REMs Out of Time that much. Never did. Other than LMR, side 1 sucks. Side 2 is very good though.
One addition? Soundgarden “Badmotorfinger”

Pegboy and DBL are good choices. I would even flow Pearl Jam's Ten on a list.

I saw most of these bands during this period. Sadly, Nirvana was not one of them. Unfortunately, Metallica was.
I’ll make fun of PJ but that year I saw them twice and they really brought the house down.
Tad & Primus at The Marquee was so packed it was scary. Show happened right as All the bands broke big at the same time. Every show was totally packed and the clubs had to get larger.

I tried going on their last night and the thing I liked most about the site being able to do the search by genre by year seems to be gone. There was an error message that popped up about that feature not being available right now or disabled or something to that order.

They are probably going through some maintenance or something. Those features should normally work. They have been meaning to update to a totally new system called Sonemic for years now, but it's taking forever. I'm guessing it's just some programmers that do this in their spare time. I don't have a paid membership, but if you get one you can preview some of the Sonemic features.

Lotta great answers here, but yet no one has named the Best Record released in 1991 yet. Kinda crazy.

Couldn't agree more; "Drive That Fast" is one of THE defining songs of that whole era in between post-punk/goth and shoegaze/dream-pop. They blurred the line between those two so well. I think SFW is their best album, too. I think if they'd toured for the (really good) album they put out 8-9 years ago, they might not be as underrated nowadays?

I agree with your assessment, JGJR. They're incredibly underrated, and maybe a tour for their reunion record would have helped. SFW is probably my favorite, but their other albums rank high for me as well, particularly The Death of Cool. Slightly off topic, but I think Julian Swales — KOD's guitarist — deserves to be as well known as Kevin Shields or The Edge. He managed to make his guitar sound like an orchestra with his effects, and it totally transports the listener. Awesome band.

I've never heard it tbh if you mean Cowboys and Aliens, but according to most, it's regarded as their weakest. I have a friend who regards it as his favorite/the best, so really, they don't have any obvious duds unless you count that one, and again, the reunion album Folly from 2013 is excellent, too.

Timely since I found a copy of the recent reissue yesterday and jumped on it to save paying UK shipping prices. I'm playing it now. Couldn't agree more; does anyone else here think that one and their last one The Stormy Petrel are by far their best?
