The First Thing You Ever Bought on Amazon

On May 9, 2006, I dropped $11.86 on the Black Market Baby CD Anthology. According to my order history, that is the first thing I bought on Amazon.

I'll take it.

You?

June 21, 1998, I dropped $19.94 on the Yobs Xmas 2 CD.

It wasn't until 2012 that I started to get a little crazy and had 41 orders that year. That was pretty consistent # orders until 2015 when I had 91. 2017 jumped up to 165 dipped into the 130 level and up to 188 last year. 74 so far this year. So, I guess I am placing an order every other day basically.

At least on the app, my history only goes back 3 months

But I feel like the first thing I bought was the Leeway CD with the first two albums on it, in early 2001.

My account order history only goes back to 2008, (I probably previously ordered as a "guest" and didn't actually set up an account until 2008) but I think I ordered Govt. Issue You on CD back around the year 2000.

When you get 5% cash back using an Amazon Prime credit card it makes it so much easier for me to make a decision on buying from them versus someone else. I make hundreds of dollars more on the 5% cash back than it costs for the fee for Prime.

On July 6, 1997 I bought "In the Cut" by Susanna Moore and the essay anthology "Stranded: Rock and Roll for a Desert Island". Cuz that's what you bought in Amazon back then - books.
I wouldn't buy my first non-book items until August 1998 (a couple Joan of Arc CD's).

FWIW, I also had one of the very first Netflix accounts. Was getting DVDs in the mail back in 1997.
Didn't invest in either company when they went public. Whatevs.

I thought that it was Beth Orton's Central Reservation CD in late 1999, but I may have bought that online somewhere else around that time period. It was Buckcherry's debut Lp (6/19/1999), also on CD. I also thought it could've been Echo and the Bunnymen's Songs to Learn and Sing CD (bought on 1/10/2000).

I think I started with Netflix in 2003 when I was out of work for a few months. As soon as I would get 5 DVDs in the mail, I would make a copy of them and send them back to get 5 more the next day. At that point, it was a flat monthly fee so the more I could make copies of the better. That lasted for a few months and then I cancelled. I don't have a digital subscription to Netflix.

NGL, I would not peg you a Buckcherry fan.

I'm generally not and I never bought anything after that, but also NGL that album has maybe 3-4 really good songs. The rest is pretty forgettable iirc. They were just doing a revival of '70s hard rock and late '80s GNR type stuff and I've always liked that kind of stuff.

Don't remember. I don't have my original account anymore. Odds are it was a CD of some sort.

I can‘t remember. I think I ordered only 1 thing at Amazon 15 years ago and then never again.
I can‘t stand this company. I prefer small local shops and was never disappointed.
Listening to Punk today is like listening to Glenn Miller in 1982.

I'd never heard this album until a good friend played some of it for me last year. I like it, but it sounds more like a Josef K, early Orange Juice, or Fire Engines album or something like that compared to what Paddy would do later.
