Anyone ever been to the Stax Museum in Memphis? I went this morning. It was incredible.

Yes, went there a few years back really cool. Also had some BBQ at Payne's and a quick drive-by of Graceland.

Try Central BBQ if you ever make it back to Memphis.

I have been there. It was my one and only trip to Memphis. It was on August 16, 1992. I was amazed at the crowds in town and especially at Graceland. I had no idea that many people went to Graceland. We skipped the tour because of the crowds. Of course, I also had no idea that it was the 25th Anniversary of Elvis’ death.

We went to Stax, Sun, the Lorraine Motel and a Memphis Chicks game. Fun times.

I saw Michael Jordan play the Memphis Chicks. They are now the Memphis Redbirds and have a new stadium just off of Beale St. I need to make another trip to see a game. The stadium looks beautiful.

Sun Studios was a nice tour too. Did that a few years ago. Been by the Lorraine Motel a few times including this weekend, but never did the tour. The Blues Hall of Fame is across the street from it and Central BBQ is very close to it too.

I went, and it was utterly amazing. They also have the arts school attached, I think? We got a tour of that, as well. And one of the student bands performed for us. Drop dead fucking amazing. Teenagers were playing, singing, and dancing 60s soul spot on perfectly. It was very encouraging to see young people taking music so seriously with zero influence of the talentless, irredeemable, indefensible steaming pile of dog shit known as current rap. Yes, I’m back to believing that it’s not really music.

Try Central BBQ if you ever make it back to Memphis.

A friend reminded me that we also hit A & R BBQ on that same trip.

I only spent about 36 hours in Memphis. Went to Stax and Sun. Visited Graceland early in the morning before starting my drive to Dallas. Skipped the BBQ, but had a fried hamburger at Dyer's.

Never been.

Here's an interesting Stax documentary worth checking out if you're a fan of any of the music.

The Cash museum is great. We saw the Outlaw Country exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame. It was excellent.

I am glad I made the trip to Nashville (finally). Even without going to the Honky Tonks it has been a fun few days so far. Planning to go to Ernest Tubbs record shop tomorrow and maybe Grimey's too. Will probably go to the new museum in town the National Museum of African American Music. May try to rip some beats for Sam :)
