AKA Godspeed You! Black Emperor, or however you want to write it. How are you guys feeling about them these days? I was a big fan of the whole initial run, but these days, I gravitate toward the sparser sound of the first LP. I liked the reunion stuff, but a lot of it feels a little too rockish to me these days. There is a certain haunted creepiness to the early stuff that I miss in the later records.

1) I thought this was going to be about the TAD album "God's Balls"
2) I wish it was about that or the post-Turning Point band Godspeed.

That's all I got.

I haven't heard anything from them in many years. I did see them live during the early 2000s at the height of their "fame". Personally most of their studio material never did much for me. I thought the "Skinny Fists" album was pretty good, from memory.

I saw them live at an ATP festival and they didn't really do much for me. I've never listened to any of the records, but would be willing to give them a chance.

Danke; looking forward to checking out your 1989-1992 noise project, too.

That was absolutely fantastic. Does the rest of their stuff sound like this?

At least through Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven. I feel like they got a little more rock and cut down on the found sounds after that.

I feel like their later stuff is gonna be a "naw dawg" from me given your description, at least until I hear the earlier, more found sound, weirder/ambient type stuff I'm after. Thanx.

Oh and if you like this sort of stuff with more of the "found sound" or ambient noise element, check out The Books, a duo that was active in the 2000s. Lost and Safe is an especially good one.

I like the new album. Listened to it today. All their music is fine. But perhaps I just love drone stuff in general.

It’s all good, I just find the first few records more intriguing.
