I'm hoping for the NYM in the playoffs but they suck so far. Can't score runs with guys on base and bullpen no good. Not to mention the coach is doing the same stupid things that the last 2 coaches before him have by wearing out the bullpen amongst other issues I have with him.

Good game today. Mets were losing 2-1, then McNeil hit a solo shot in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game

Annndd...

The Mets win on a Conforto HBP with the bases loaded.

Or did they? As it’s up for review

I didn't watch it but was texting with my buddy and his son about the game. Right before McNeil hit the HR I had texted them that the squirrel needed to find a nut because he had the Blutarski (sp) GPA as his batting average up until that HR. As I told them, I will take a W any way we can get it.

deGrom is unbelievably unlucky. But I’ll take it.

He would be a first ballot hall of famer if he played on a team that scored runs for him. The lack of bats on that team have probably cost him 30+ wins the last 3 years. He is the most dominant pitcher since Randy Johnson IMO.

I guess if deGrom can't go fuck it I'll help myself and go 2-4 with a double, he gets no run support and can't get a victory after fanning 9 in 6 innings and after giving up only one run. Sigh. What a year he's having so far, though, regardless.

I'd go back even further. Maybe early Doc Gooden, but his domination of opposing hitters is more Bob Gibson/Bob Feller type of stuff.

Luckily, I think we left behind the era of judging pitchers by wins and losses. Assuming he has 3-4 more dominant years, deGrom should be a first ballot HoF no matter what his W/L record says. I think deGrom has won 2 Cy Young awards with pretty mediocre W/L records? I think King Felix won one with a mediocre W/L record as well. The weird thing about deGrom is he didn't hit the big leagues until he was 26 and he didn't truly dominate until he was 30. He was excellent from 26-29, but not consistently at the level he is now.

And you guys are forgetting a guy. 1997 to 2003 Pedro Martinez was the best pitcher in the history of baseball. Pedro's WHIP in 2000 was .737 and his ERA+ was 294. No modern pitcher can come close to those numbers.

I went to bed after the Mets batted in the top of the 9th so I could avoid watching a disaster. Pretty good decision on my part. Apparently, it was the right call though after the replay.

Rojas should've left Walker in the other night; what a poor decision, though I understand the lefty to lefty match-up. They wasted another good start from Carrasco last night, too. It would be nice if they scored some runs. Sigh.
