Has anyone used a cork matt for their turntable?

I have. It was certainly better than the felt that came with the AT turntable. My technics came with a very heavy rubber matt and I have not changed it out.

I'm not able to swap out the rubber mat on my Technics due to the 12"/7" sensors for the auto-cue feature. It's a 1987 model, similar to the one below.

I have one on my U-Turn Orbit... no idea if it really makes any real appreciable difference when playing crappily-recorded 40 year old punk records.

I noticed less static than the felt using cork. I think the sound was a little deeper in the bass too.

Was doing the research, it doesn’t mark up the vinyl does it? For some reason I feel more comfortable using the softer felt cover

Not that I have noticed. I usually clean the record with an anti static brush and a manual liquid brush clean before playing it to remove smudges, paper, and static too. I don't have an anti static gun. They seemed a little expensive. I usually only use my inexpensive shop vac record cleaner on used vinyl in bad shape or new vinyl that has a ton of paper filings on it from the white paper inner sleeves.
