Best Records of 2020???

I’m at a loss to even think of what came out this year. This is what I can remember right now:

Hum - Inlet
Coriky - S/T

99% of the physical releases that I bought that had a release date within 2020 have been a reissue of some sort or another. So, I don't have a vote on this subject as of now.

Yup. I bought plenty of records, but very few were new releases.

Here are some of things I got this year:

https://rateyourmusic.com/collection/pa ... ear/2020/1

Albums from Rope Sect, Hum,Chip Wickham, and the Humant Blod 7'' are probably near the top for me, but I haven't gone crazy with 2020 releases.

There are still several releases from this year I would like to check out and possibly buy.

Just checked out that Dom & Roland. Not bad, but I just can’t get into modern D&B. For the most part, anything made after about 1999 just doesn’t do it for me.

I decided that this year when i do a top list I'm only going to list records I physically purchased on vinyl. Should be interesting

You may know this, but Dom & Roland goes back to the 90s. Check out his first album, Industry, if you don't know it.

I’m a big fan of his early stuff. I had a few 12”s by him back in the ‘90s. Prime D&B for me was ‘95-‘97. There was certainly good stuff after that, but that was the peak. This is where my head is still at:

I think it's silly to not wait another month, but I'm bored.
I have purchased 27 new releases so far in 2020. Four are compilations. One is a Neil Young record completed in the mid-70's that was never released previously. Of the remaining 22, I really like these. First four in general preferential order.

AMOS PITSCH – Acid Rain
FOXYCONTIN - This Time You're On Your Own
MINT MILE – Ambertron
ROOKIE – S/T

And these:
BAD MOVES – Untenable
LEMON TWIGS– Songs for the General Public
CORIKY – S/T
FAKE NAMES – S/T
FAZ WALTZ – Rebel Kicks
X – Alphabetland
LOVESORES – Bats from Planet Skull
THE NO ONES – The Great Lost No Ones Album

This is by no means a complete list and I'm probably forgetting some stuff, but here are some new things I've listened to quite a bit this year. I only have physical copies of the 1st 2. I've bought a bunch of records this year, but mostly older stuff and reissues, which should be a separate list maybe.

Reaching Out - demo
Bitter Branches - This May Hurt a Bit 12"
Joe Pernice - Richard
Elvis Costello - Hey Clockface
Best Coast - Always Tomorrow
Suzanne Vega - An Evening of New York Songs and Stories (this is a live greatest hits, essentially)
Bob Vylan - We Live Here
The Strokes - The New Abnormal (yes, The Strokes; this is by far heir best since the 2nd Lp)

I really like the Don't Sleep and Bob Mould Lps, too, but need to spend more time with them.

This was released a couple of weeks back & I was listening to it all week. Two-piece band from NYC.

Interesting list friend..quite a few Dad Rock records on there
That new Bob Mould record is a stunner. If you are a big Bob fan, I suggest the Something To Du podcast where the hosts discuss Mould’s discography. I believe someone on here is a part of it?

I took it out of the box and placed it on top of a CD cabinet in my music room to display and have yet to even open it. My five different copies of London Calling probably pales in comparison to how many versions you have.
