I've been listening to this album a lot recently. I like it. (I'm not talking about the Damned or Prince).

Of the two, I'd take Jay Z, but I bet Hunter's talking about Metallica.

Spot on except that he was great at producing Vancouver punk rock!

To be honest, of the stuff discussed in this thread, I think this is the only one I really like (and I LOVE that 2xLp) or know well enough to really comment on.

No Cliff ...no Metallica.
The drop off in quality is so severe that its glaring.
And Lars cannot drum for shit

lars could cover it up in the studio. metallica was never about the drums anyway. plus think of all the other all time great metal bands that had average/simple drumming- AC/DC, judas priest(at least until scott travis joined), venom, etc.

and justice was also a great album.

Yes!!!!!!!! I saw the title and immediately thought this was about The Damned! Let's just start talking about this record anyway, even though it was not the intent. Favorite songs? Mine are:

Lively Arts
TWISTED NERVE!!!!!!!! (what a sick song. I think there's a foreign band who took this song title as their band name and they're very dark, macabre sounding!)
THERAPY!!!!
Drinking About My Baby
12th Floor Vendetta
Dr. Jeckyll And Mr. Hyde
History Of The World, Pt. 1.....

I was listening to Metallica's Black album this week. and they certainly cared more about the finesse of mixing more then than ever.
