Everyone talks about Fire of Love and that 's a great record, of course, but I'm still astonished at how underrated all of Jeffrey Lee Pierce's subsequent records are by comparison I'm listening to this now and just blown away. I've been a fan for a long time and this stuff just gets better and better. It's everything that most modern blues rock wants to be and can't be; he just absolutely nailed it. I think it's the last Lp he made before he died as well, which makes it have even more of a special poignancy but obviously it wasn't intended that way so that's only in retrospect.
