Update: after 3 or 4 listens, I got used to the vocals. Amazing record.

Then maybe lay off the hot takes? You know how crucial the Dag Board thumbs up is during that first week.

You're totally right. I pretty much sunk this record at its initial release. Hopefully, my updated review will help sell some records.

I haven't listened yet, but reading this makes me want to.

It's a great record. Obviously, there's a lot of Sabbath worship, but it doesn't just make me want to go listen to actual Sabbath records (which is my litmus test for stoner/doom). They bring their own vibe to the table.

I have literally never heard a stoner/doom record that didn't make me think that or want to just listen to Sabbath, so I'm a bit skeptical.

Trust me, I feel that way about 99% of the genre. Sleep and Electric Wizard are pretty much the only two doom/stoner bands I've heard that can really stand on their own.

I have to give both a serious listen one of these days.
