Getting to be that time of year. I can only think of maybe 5 new releases I bought this year, so I guess that would be my Too 5 by default. What good records/CDs/MP3s did I miss out on?

Even though I am old, strange and slow, I just bought a record that came out yesterday, only listened to it once, but I'm gonna put it my very short list of records that I like from 2017.
It's the singer dude from Knapsack and The Jealous Sound and Sergie from Samiam, Soup and Sweet Baby Jesus.
It's not "punk", but I'm digging it. Basically, since it's Blair singing and writing most of the music, it's The Jealous Sound.

I didn't buy tons of new records this year, lots of reissues & old stuff
Oh Sees- Orc (Best of the year so far) Mark Lanegan Band- Gargoyle Dead Heavens- Whatever Witch You Are Ho99o9- United States of Horror Alan Vega- It Dead Cross- s/t Fireburn- Don't stop the youth -E.P. Can't wait for a full-length
Lee Renaldo- Electric Trim. Just got it & I don't know how I feel yet, Lee has been heavily influenced by 60's psychedelic, trippy-hippy music but this almost seems like a relic of that era by some weird, pop genius. Still trying to figure this one out

I second this. I was pleasantly surprised at how jaw-droppingly great it is even though I really liked the last one, too (Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Free Downloads).

Good album, though a bit samey. Bought the vinyl, which came with a 160kbps-download. Fuck you, Rise Records!

320 kbps or higher has been the standard for a decade, so that's surprising to me. With that said, even when I had super high quality Shure e3c in-ear headphones, I couldn't really hear the difference between 192 and anything higher. The differences below that were much more noticeable, though.

FWIW, I have had luck e-mailing labels when they've supplied shitty downloads and (politely) asked for higher bit rates files. They typically have them laying around and have either sent me a zip file or a link.
Worth a shot.

Alice Cooper 'Paranormal' Prong 'Zero Days' Exhumed 'Death Revenge' Lotte Kestner 'Off White'
Morbid Angel new single 2017 'Piles of Little Arms' I have high hopes for the new album. Not sure if it will be 2017 or 2018.
Marilyn Manson 'Heaven Upside Down. I liked the album a lot upon the first week, but kinda wore off. I was thinking it was a best of 2017, now I'm not so sure.
More to follow

Fun fact:
I haven't listened to it since it came out and don't remember being too impressed (obviously, or I would've been playing it constantly) but just thought it was neat because of the fact that all 5 of my faves did something. So yeah...........I can't fault your opinion in the least.

Oh, I thought that since you posted this in a thread called "Best of 2017" that you thought it was one of the "Best of 2017". Pretty dumb of me I guess.

Serious answer (no reissues)
Looked through my iTunes to determine what got the most plays:
1) AFI "Blood Album" 2) Ryan Adams "Prisoner" 3) Drab Majesty "The Demonstration" 4) Damnation ad "Pornography" (yeah - it's a covers album but still) 5) Body Count "Bloodlust" 6) Burn "Do Or Die" 7) Fireburn "Don't Stop The Youth" 8) Bloodclot "Up In Arms" 9) Liam Gallagher "As You Were" 10) Paramore "After Laughter"
Despite this being a long list I feel like there's a lot of stuff I slept on this year....but these are ones I keep going back to.
That said, some heavy hitters (for me) are coming out in the next week or so: U2, Morrissey, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds and Taylor Swift.
I also feel like I need to spend some more time with: Bash & Pop (thanks for the recommendation, scanny!), Jesus and Mary Chain, Ride, Slowdive, Arcade Fire, Miley Cyrus etc.

Holy shit...I forgot that I actually did buy 1 (ONE) true punk rock recording released in 2017. It's Dan Yemin's (Lifetime, Kid Dynamite) new band OPEN CITY. Something that stands out a little is the awesome punk rock female vocals.

I own all of Neal Casal's solo records, so I gave Adams a quick listen in that context, but I had never clicked on that thread. Thanks.
