Whycome no one told me how great they were? You'd think Alex would have mentioned it, at least. I ordered a bunch of their singles from MXV on Discogs today. I'm going to have to buy the LP next time I come across it in the wild.

I hope I still have the Lp in the collection. I always liked them. I had the split 7" with Gray Matter, too. I saw them open for Shudder to Think once in January 1993.

I think I've already told my encounter with Target at a house party participating in a drunk-congo line after Severin played in town. It went ME: "hey man, I loved Swiz" TARGET: "beellaaarrag". I think I forced him to give me a business card so I could talk to him about Swiz at a later date, which I never did.

I have not spun the Severin LP in sometime, I remember liking the song from the 7" the most though (Fire and Sand). These are the singles I have:

Severin | Beagles! Beagles! | 7" | Green, June 1993 Singles Club (2000) | Sub Pop 213
Severin | Fire and Sand/People Are Wrong | 7" | 1st Press (500 w green/red labels) | Dischord 57.5
Gray Matter / Severin | S/T | 7" | Sleeve (2000) | Dischord 68.72
Severin | Smash Hits | 7" | Red (1500) | Dischord 72.5

Since then I've gained a bit of weight and become less articulate.

Severin, at times, was a super fun band to be in. Lots of great travel experiences and fun times with the
Other guys. When we were at our best I think we were a super hot band, no joke. This happened 25 percent of the time( max). Some of the time we were pretty good. And some of the time we were , as David Yow said when we opened for Jesus Lizard "poppy and weak."

While a lot of the music was fun, Severin was a band during a challenging time for me, when I was trying to both figure myself out and figure out what music meant to me. I ended up not playing the drums for more than a year after the group folded

Severin never got past a big song writing block and had some issues getting along on tour. But overall a really fun, creative time-- thanks for remembering the band!!!!

Wow, chewcking the board after ages and so glad to find a post about one of my cult names out of those years. Already mentioned how much I liked them, found them original and out of the choir and I'm glad they're getting some spotlight again. Well done, keep re-discovering Severin

I was a fairly big fan back in the day. I had most of their music but never had the sub Pop 45. haven't listened in a long time. Guess I should throw them on the shuffle.

I bought 4 of the singles (didn't get the Gray Matter split, since both songs seem to be album tracks). The only good thing about them being underrated is that you can get their records dirt cheap.

When I was a rapid Dischord completist, for years I had all the releases AND the 1/2 releases. That 'Smash Hits' 45 is REAL good.
