Is this your band, Welly? The description says from Brighton, which is throwing me, but surely there aren't TWO State Funerals associated with Boss Tuneage?

Good to hear from you. Different band, loads of confusion, keep getting tagged for their gigs, asked to play gigs etc. Loads of people liking our FB page though, which is good, as they are 'mysterious guy hardcore' poncing about in balaclavas and don't do such things as social media.

My name IS on their flexi though, as I do most of the design for Boss T, so put my name on there with (State Funeral) in brackets to have a dig. I also messed with them a bit by temporarily using my versions of their 'art' on our FB page. I did it to flush them out, and lo and behold, straight away I got this message saying 'stop using our art'. I replied by saying I figured seeing as they were using our name, we could use their art (see what I did there?)

The guy admitted they knew we existed beforehand, but in typical entitled-age fashion didn't think there was a problem two bands using the same name, repeating that 'we run in different circles', which I took to mean 'you're old and therefore irrelevant' as I tried to explain it was hardcore punk, it was the same tiny scene, everyone was asking me about this other band, and all their lyrics were against the 'Tory Austerity', which was exactly the same as our State Funeral subject matter.

I then got separate shit from another band member on Discogs, as their flexi had been mistakenly listed as our release (funny that). This guy was saying that they DIDN'T know we existed, there was no confusion, I was the one being 'aggressive and weird', said they were using the name 'so there', and then deleted his account before I could reply.

Absolute bunch of roasters. I guess I shouldn't come up with such good band names huh? Ha ha ha!

Haha, that's a solid story.

I enjoyed the commentary here when another band used the name Sinker:
https://www.last.fm/music/Sinker

There was a third band that started to use it and got really belligerent when I suggested they find something else. Then they backed off and changed it.

I mean, it's not really a good band name.

The people that used the name Sawhorse in the 2000s got really testy as well when called out.

Glad I don't buy the flexi, in that case! I was about to, thinking that it was your band, but I was unsure enough to hold off and ask first. What a bunch of tossers!

Thanks. I did put up an 'EP' up of practice stuff that we never recorded for free download. First three tracks are 3/4 of FLW directly after we packed it in, and the last two are just messy reverb-overload hardcore jams...

So which bands were you in out of the above? This name stuff happens more and more now, I recently saw a band on the net called the Proletariat from Manchester, UK, that described themselves as 'punky'... which says everything you need to know.

I was in the 1993 Sinker. We were on the 3/12/93 comp on Ebullition and did two 7"s of our own.
