Interesting stuff. He comes across as a bit of a lech, but not the pure evil he's been portrayed as by some sources.

I have such a hard time listening to his radio show. That voice drives me up a wall.

when i was in strange boutique - he was out here for a while and working with a producer in wheaton, md. he saw us play at the bayou and approached us about signing a production deal with him and this "kid" producer that he'd hooked up with. the kid was some independently wealthy guy with a studio - and with a luxury suite for washington capitals games. he gave us...well, me...the use of his box for several months while the band talked things over, and reviewed the contract he wanted us to sign. right out of the gate, we were disinclined to do it, but we took our time coming to a decision. it didn't have too much to do with the free caps' tickets! anyway - the deal wasn't all that great. he guaranteed us something like a three-record deal on some label he had...but wanted 75% of the publishing royalties (with his producer friend getting a small cut). at the end of the day - i had to call him up and tell him 'thanks, but no-thanks.' he went ballistic. told me he had a gun and he was going to come out and shoot me. lot's of ranting and screaming on his end. i was never really worried. more bemused than anything. i think we offered him 10 or 15 percent. i thought that was being generous. at first, i was really flattered by it. I had a couple of his albums from the 60s...and knew of his work with the runaways...but that wasn't enough to make me sell my soul to the devil.

I second that. You made the right decision, Danny. He's a sleaze bag of the highest order (as if his 75% offer wasn't proof) and I know folks who will vouch for that. I do love those Runaways records, though, and have also heard some of his '60s stuff and enjoy it, too.

Danny, he probably wanted Strange Boutique to write a theme song for the Caps, too.

Dude co-wrote two of the best tracks on Destroyer so cut him some slack, jerks.
