RUTS D.C.

I heard a Ruts (D.C.) song on Jack Rabid's radio show today and I was actually really impressed.

Once again, you are late for the party.

I have Rhythm Collision, which is supposed to be their masterpiece, but it's never really grabbed me.

This new stuff sounds more like the Ruts than Ruts DC. They aren't doing all of that dub stuff.

I like dub and I like the Mad Professor. Maybe I just haven't listened to it enough, but it doesn't jazz me like King Tubby or Niney or Scientist.

Yeah, the new track (listening now) is more like The Ruts except the vocals don't sound like Malcolm (obviously). It's not similar to Animal Now, which is very post-punk. I like it a lot.

I think the sound on this new album will be somewhere between The Ruts and the Animal Now LP from what they have been saying. There will be some touches of reggae sounds but not the full blown dub of the Rhythm Collision stuff. I can't wait until they are finished with the album so we can get to hear the rest of it. I am really looking forward to it. If you don't have the Ruts DC Live CD, you should get it. They are really solid playing through all eras of the bands.
