I'm a sucker for these kinda things even though it is a bit pricey.

As much as I love this album, this doesn't really necessary for me. I think I'll pass. Still cool though.

They just remastered this a few years ago. Demos always sound like shit or just a slight variant from the original.

Waste of money.

Why would I want to listen to a mono version of this?

I will stick with my CD with bonus tracks. I have plenty of Ramones boots to listen to in the meantime :D

I wonder who is getting paid for cashing in on this thing since none of the guys that played on it are with us anymore.

I only pay stupid money for deluxe reissues of Jam albums I already own four copies of.

Was it ever released (or even recorded) in mono when it first was recorded? I get why people want stuff like The Beatles or Hendrix in mono but unless that Ramones album was first recorded and issued in mono then it is nothing but some gimmick to garner sales.

Yeah, I suspect the mono mix was only done recently. For the most part this seems pretty non-essential, although I'd like to hear the live stuff.

This new deluxe edition features on disc one, the stereo mix and a previously unreleased mono mix of the album, newly remastered by original album producer Craig Leon, who recalls, “We had an idea to record at Abbey Road and do both a mono and stereo version of the album, which was unheard of at the time. I’m thrilled that now, 40 years later, we followed through on that original idea.”

So never released in mono, but not sure about the recording process. Assume not, but while the separation of bass and guitar(s) was useful for me when first learning to play bass, I imagine the mono-mix will sound decent enough. UK Amazon price is one of the lowest, so I'm pulling the trigger, mostly because I'm a HUGE fan of this iconic album, a Ramones fanboy, and am intrigued enough by the extras included.

I'm with wALLton, I bet the mono mix is nice and punchy. It may end up sounding better than the weird stereo mix with the guitar all on one side and the bass all on the other. $70 isn't cheap, but it's a better deal than the new super deluxe Kings of the Wild Frontier, which is selling for $120 on Amazon and contains 1 LP, 2 CDs, and a DVD.

Mono mix is a recent mix. The CDs are compressed to hell, not interested in demos, going to pass on this.

Not a sucker for hype, but it's got good reviews. I think one may be winging its way into my hands for my birthday next week. Will report back. :D

Weird, I've heard nothing but bad reviews. But then I put it on and it sounded alright to me. Not sure where all these "compressed to hell" reviews are coming from, unless there are two versions and I lucked out and got one of the decent ones.
