choosing 5 albums by one band of torment is too easy. you must establish a unique 5 artist list to complete the cycle of torture. no repeats. scannest, failure to comply with a second penaltly will result in greg physically arriving at your next social gathering to be the dj.

I love that record, but I'll throw my considerable weight behind By Your Side. So many great riffs on that record, and the production is outstanding. It's like Zep crossed with the usual southern influences (Allman Bros, Little Feat, etc).

I can't think of another band since the '70s that's done classic rock as well as the Black Crowes. Fans of the Stones, Zeppelin, Faces, etc... should definitely give them another listen.

I remember really enjoying the first two albums.

Also, their Behind The Music was great. The story about Chris Robinson packing for a 3 month Euro tour with just a grocery bag full of clothes.

Oh, I agree. The name is horrendous, but the music is really good. They are Australian and sound a lot like The Go-Betweens, The Bats and occasionally Belle and Sebastian (early), The Feelies and Luna.

Yes, yes and yes!
The sound is amazing...there is stuff I haven't heard before on some songs (especially on Sandinista!) and the bass has finally been deepened to perfection on almost everything.
All the little trinket stuff (stickers, dog-tags, poster, etc.) is alright, but the 3 Armagideon Times magazines (the 2 originals and one specially made for the box) are really great reading.
I haven't watched the DVD yet, but there's stuff on there I haven't seen, so that will be this weekend's viewing.
I give it an 11 out of 10.

That's pretty much where I'm at. At the moment, I'm content to listen to it on Spotify or what not. Anyway, were you inspired to play that Badfinger Lp because of Breaking Bad? And those Chameleons, Church and Comsat Angels records are big favorites here.

I checked it out and decided to buy the album based on the song. I've tried to get into Badfinger years ago based on namedropping in Big Star liner notes but just didn't get into them at the time. I'm digging this album now though.

Saw them both live on Friday in the smallest room I've ever seen a band in. Jaded Eyes blew HDQ off the (non-existent) stage that night in my opinion.

My list:

Rush - Vapor Trails Remixed
Cardiacs - Sampler
Groundswell - Plausible Infeasible
SNFU - Never Trouble Trouble Until Trouble Troubles You
PWEI - A Lick Of The Old Cassette Box

Why hast thou forsaken me?
and i cried
aloud to heaven
and i knelt
on all six legs
and vowed a vow
of vengeance

Big fan of these. Dunno if the version of Mania you have is the original or the WOM reissue, but I got the reissue a couple of months ago and one thing I found annoying is that the original album version of "New Message" is not on it. I have no problem with including an alternate version, but the original should have been included as well - it's one of my favorite Lucy Show songs.
