I intend on going to a few Rays games with my nephew and/or GF this year. I had bought a bunch of flex ticket plans the year before and ended up losing about $300 in unused tickets. I'd thought the kids would have wanted to go more often, but they were like "eh, it was fun once or twice, but I'll pass". I think the game is too slow and not enough is going on for them to really get into it.

Take them to a minor league game if there is one in the area. They usually do more to entertain kids and usually have some sort of giveaway almost every game.

Yeah, like 10m from me is the field the scum-fuck Pittsburgh Pirates have their spring training at, and they have minor league there as well. Last time I went we got free t-shirts etc, the kids were more interesting in eating ballpark food and walking around than the actual game. I just think it's kinda boring for kids to sit that long. The Rays play inside and just driving 1 hour each way, finding parking, walking to stadium, hoping you don't sit next to a loud jackass, paying stupid prices for shitty food....it makes me want to just watch it on the couch. I enjoy that immediate reaction you get seeing it live but...

Yeah it's tough to keep the kids entertained, but sometimes that one game can light a spark of interest. Not all the time it clicks, but it's awesome when you spend that quality time by hanging out and catching a game.

Happy Opening Sunday! Tried watching the Cards/Buccs after work, but I needed my sleep. Next game, Marcus Stroman is a STUD! Just shutting down the Rays. Just clearly shows the difference of both teams. While everyone is talking about the Cubs, I think people are sleeping on the Jays. Next up on ESPN the board faves the Mets will be taking on the champs Royals.

Reds start the season with 5 starters on the DL. Should be a great year.

Was watching that game. Archer has great stuff, but if he can consistently throw strikes (aside from his slider,) he'll give himself and the Rays a better position to win. He's young and raw, but what will be scary is when he figures it out

M's won tonight against the Yankees in NY but I have the feeling it will be another long, miserable season of baseball in Seattle. Dropping 5 out of 6 in the opening home-stand does not fill one with confidence. :|

Rays pitching is just awful and offense is same (but always has always been that way). At least the Bolts are doing well in the playoffs!

Gigantes v Mets this weekend . Should be fun. While I have confidence in my team to complete, I don't like the pitching match up's of sending Peavy & Cain v Matz & deGrom. I'd feel if Cueto or Samardzija were on the hill, but that's baseball for ya. Bumgarner v Syndergard has the potential to be a good duel. In all honesty I see the Mets winning the 3 game series this weekend, I'll still root for my guys

Bottom 3rd, 6-0 Mets. Awesome.

I like how well the Neil Walker trade is paying off, and hope his power continues. My other big wish for my Mets season is that Michael Conforto keeps it up - I like the cut of his jib.

Go Mets!

Thank Gawd for Mad Bum or else it would have been a Mets sweep, but I don't think you guys are complaining about 2 outta 3. I was impressed of what I saw of Conforto. He was waving the magic wand over the Giants during the weekend. Bright future ahead. Okay, on to Cincinnati

Tampa is currently ranked 30th (out of 30 teams) in hitting % and who know for RISP (is it possible to get a negative stat?). Our new 1B dude is hitting .094 (.241 career). I'm not so tied up in stats, but sweet baby Jebus, we can't hit to save our life.

Mets pitchers have been on fire at the plate. Someone suggested it's only fair that some of their hitters be required to perform some middle inning relief. I am in agreement.

No.No.No. Thank god those pitchers can hit too. They have helped themselves when the rest of the guys stunk up the batters box. I try to watch every game not on local cable channels thru mlb.tv on my roku stick. They have been fun to watch so far. I think I have watched more baseball thru last weekend than I did the last few years in total.

You guys have your pitchers that can rake and we have Madison Bumgarner which is fun to watch. It annoys me how they are trying to make NL adopt the DH. I like em both separate. I do like watching the A's once in a while in person, but both formats should exist separately unless inter league

Weird, Kershaw, Grienke set back by injuries.

Was at last night's A's/ Giants game and it was hard to stomach. Not because it was the A's, but because the Giants blew 2 3R leads and gave up 13 runs

Well, it could be worse, Wretch. You could be a Mets fan and have to watch them get dismantled by the Nats. And, deal with Wheeler's return pushed back at least a month, and Matz and Thor having bone spurs in their elbows that may end up sidelining them at some point.

Third lowest run support of any starting pitcher in MLB @ 2.6 runs/game.

Last in team BA.
28th in runs.
28th in RBIs.
29th in stolen bases.

They don't get guys on base and are not good at moving them around.

And while a stay in the minors might do Conforto good, why do they insist on keeping Granderson at leadoff? I sometimes wish Juan Lagares could have a steady spot and leadoff. I'm convinced it would be at least as rewarding as Grandy.

I think they need to fire the entire fucking coaching staff. The team lacks hitting fundamentals. The opponent steals bases like it was little league, and the Mets don't call a pitch out or throw over to 1B. The pitching staff as good as it is could do some things better too.

Two years ago, I would have been happy being close to playoff contention at July 4th. Now, I am pissed we are not 5 games up in 1st.
