One good album I picked up this week, was the Executors LP on Dead Beat.
They're from NJ and sound like the old stuff.

Still got the LP. Saw it in the cinema in '81, it only ran for a week or so.

Doc Hopper - Aloha LP
This was a big favorite of mine circa '93/'94. I didn't know others on here knew or liked them. Chris is now playing drums in a band with my friend Shannon. They made a cd-r demo which is terrific. Here's their FB if anyone is interested.
I've slowed down quite a bit over the last couple weeks but recently:
108 "Threefold Misery" reissue Scream "Fumble" reissue Dag Nasty new 7"

UK Subs Summer 1977 demo 7in with 2 tracks limited to 500 copies. Just went on sale about 30 minutes ago and I was able to order a copy. It should be worth millions by the time I get my copy. Nothing like making money off of suckers like me with some songs from an almost 40 year old cassette being put on vinyl.

I bought the remastered 2 disc set of ...It's Too Late to Stop Now... plus the 3 disc, 1 DVD set with all the songs they cut from the first release. So that's 5 discs of prime live Van Morrison from 1973.

Anyone ever heard of the band The GOP? They only put out one EP back in 2005. The singer sounds like a cross between Stabb and Nathan Strejeck.

I've heard great things about the THEM discography. There's this dude Andrew Sandoval at Rhino who has his fingerprints all over many a great reissue - the THEM collection, the expanded live VAN MORRISON thing, the Kinks new "Everybody's in Showbiz" deluxe version. He is also in the current Monkees touring band.

Howlin' Wolf = the best. Easily my favorite bluesman.
I didn't know that Damned BBC Sessions Lp was a thing. I have it on CD; some really great versions on there, especially that shortened "Curtain Call" but not limited to that at all.

They were mostly mind finds in 3 record stores that I went to in STL - Vintage Vinyl, Euclid, and Record Exchange. I think I found that Damned 2LP at Euclid. The Howlin Wolf 7" was a former RSD item. I got it at Vintage Vinyl.

I've got a couple of the early '60s Chess Lps (his Lp in The Real Folk Blues series and the other is Moanin' at Midnight, I think; one I think is a '70s repress), both might be foreign pressings, have owned several hits collections on CD as well. He just rules. Every cover of one of his/Willie Dixon's songs is inferior to his originals except for "Wang Dang Doodle" (Koko Taylor's is way better but HW's is great, too).

Every few months I swing by 4-5 record stores in the area and do my best to support them by buying a decent amount of records at each place. Unfortunately I own a lot already so mostly buy represses/variants but also pick up newer stuff along the way. Not much rare stuff. Today I swung by 4 stores (Microgroove, Steelworks (Tampa), Planet Retro (St. Pete), Jerk Dog (Bradenton). I got a fuck ton of records, gonna take a photo and list them like the huge nerd I am.

1) That Deadspot album is ridiculously underrated and underappreciated. Great find there. 2) I didn't know that the J Robbins album was out in full yet..? 3) Huzzah! on the Stupids album. I never saw them live but I like that record and the split 10" with the Hard-Ons. 4) Verbal Assault never released a bad record. Beautiful band.

Yeah, I guess it just came out. When I walked into the store I recognized J's voice and asked the store owner if that's what I was listening too and he said yes. Turns out J recorded the store owners record (Pohgoh) that had come out recently after 21 years between records. Guy also told me that they were playing in NYC semi-recently and that Blake from Jawbreaker happened to check them out and liked them and invited them (Pohgoh) to open for Jawbreaker's recent east coast shows and then they are playing 3 shows in Japan in the fall. How fucking awesome is that, not be an active band for 21 years, have J record your music, tour with Jawbreaker, tour with Mineral, then go to Japan. Was so happy for him, I hadn't heard the band so I bought the LP, it's very Tsunami poppy stuff that I'm enjoying.
