I've slowed down immensely on new purchases, but I did just get the Seaweed "Actions and Indications" reissue in the mail a couple days ago on vinyl and it is awesome.

I ordered the new Angelic Upstarts release coming out at the end of the year. Yesterday, I ordered the new UK Subs "Z" release thru their Pledgemusic site.

Saving up now as I head to the Mississippi Delta on a Blues Tour for a week or so at the end of November. I may need to buy some 78RPM LPs.

On a related note, I'm happy to announce that I didn't buy the Beach Slang record, as one Spotify listen convinced me it is much closer to Gaslight Anthem than the Replacements or Jawbreaker or any one of the other infinitely more interesting bands that they name drop in all their interviews.

Oh for sure. It's the best Gaslight record since '59 Sound. I knew you had to have been talking about them on FB when I saw that post.

It is (closer to GA than Mats) but that's ok. I will say this, they're lucky the music and melodies are so good cause the lyrics for the most part....woof. Written by a man in his 40's no less.

Yeah, there are some serious lyrical groaners on there. But I can forgive bonehead lyrics if the songs had more going on musically. Look no further than the Westerberg/Juliana Hatfield duet that showed up on Spotify Saturday. The song is about getting so excited when you see someone that it makes you have to pee.

Seriously. That's it.

I mean, that is D-U-M-B. But there are more hooks in the one song than the whole Beach Slang record.

I picked up the latest Neil Young 'Live from the Archives' thing. It's a two-disc set from when he toured with that big band in '87-'88 (keys and horn section). It is considerably better than the studio record they released at the time which, come to think of it, is exactly the same story with the last archive set (a live record with his country band from '85 which kicks considerable butt compared to the contemporaneous studio recording).
I've also been working my way through the latest Bob Dylan archival release. He put out an 18-disc collection of every note he recorded between '64 and '66 (it's also available in 2 and 6 disc versions - I've got the 6-disc version).
The new Soldiers of Fortune record (Early Risers) is pretty terrific

I love Bandcamp. Easy to use, lossless files (if you choose), most of the money goes right to the bands with very little hassle. Every band should have a page.

I got the Ork box on vinyl for my birthday. It's pretty amazing both musically and packaging wise.

GISM: do you mean Determination? The remastering is great. Much better than the old CD, though the OG Detestation CD's packaging was much better (and more disturbing).
