So I opted to hit the Saturday night area show, rather than trying to make it into the city Fri. night after work.

Got there around 8 PM. White Hills from NYC were opening. I missed their first song. The rest of their set was good, but started to drag a bit at the end. They played 50 minutes-way too long for an opener that not many have heard of. Their last song was like 15 minutes too  They had an early Pumpkins vibe on some songs. The bassist looks like a cross between D'Arcy and Stevie Nicks.

It took 45 minutes for The Cult to come on. I'm all for setting the right atmosphere, but I thought I was at a G N R show  The opener did not have much gear and it looked like The Cult's stuff was set by about 9:20.

Anyway, they started around 9:45. Blazing thru all of Electric-minus "Born To Be Wild" where they subbed with "Zap City" instead. Then tracks from all their records. When they played a song from Choice of Weapon, Ian remarked that nobody had this one-but I recognized it ;) He also threw out tamborines into the audience. When they played a brief film before the encore, this lady next to me yelled out-"cut this bullshit out and play some fuckin' music." Live free or die!

"Sun King", "King Contrary Man" and 'Rise" were the highlights for me

Before "Spiritwalker",Billy played "Sweet Home Alabama" until Ian told him to quit it!
The band was tight, Billy Duffy shredded all night, James Stevenson was cool on 2nd guitar. Almost 2 hours total. Good stuff!

I picked up an Electric t-shirt, I passed on the signed poster for $65 or the Duffy dog-tags (no joke) for $25.

This show was in Philly tonight. I wish I went. Zap City rules!
