That is my plan. I found out my son's graduation is that day, but I don't suspect that party will be going all night.

Oh nice! I'm gonna drive to this one so I won't have to worry about catching a train. Hoping for a Dag meetup!

Is it still pretty easy to park near UT?

You're asking like you've been gone for 100 years. LOL it's the same as it's always been.

Ha true but I only asked because I know much that area has been built up in recent years with new lofts, restaurants, bars, etc. I was in Fishtown recently and it's so much harder to park on Frankford Ave now. Anyway, I'm glad you can still park on Buttonwood, but I think Jose's closed, right (Yelp says yes).

Spinal Tap 35th anniversary movie at The Beacon Theater tonight with an interview afterwards and now it looks like a performance also so I’ll count this as a gig.
I imagine maybe one or two songs and then go into the interview so this could be an awesome event
Never seen ST live so I’m pretty psyched

You'd have to speak with my sister, who wrote the liner notes for a still unreleased Burger Records VELVET CRUSH compilation.

Mark Lanegan in BK last night was great. I see him every two years or so & this was his best performance in NYC in a ew years. Band crisp & even Mark looked like he was having fun.

And a friend of mine works with Lydia Lunch and they were there so I got to meet Lydia......and I got a hug...which was pretty big to me and also my 17 yr old self......lol

Killing Joke tomorrow night! At Saint Vitus. I can’t believe I’m seeing them in such a small room. Great way to celebrate their 40th anni.

I'm seeing them Saturday night in Jersey City. I don't remember the last time they had an opener. 100 songs or not, they've been playing 2 1/2 hours on a typical night. I usually run out of steam around 2 hours, but we'll see how I do Saturday.

The last time I saw them, The Moles opened but that was in 2016. And they still played a 3 plus hour set.

Killing Joke Thurs. night with about 150 ppl was amazing. Really good setlist covering material from all the great albums leaning heavy on the first LP Jaz was in top form, the band had some sound issues early on but got it all together by the third song. I think they are not used to small spaces like Saint Vitus.....

June 8- Bill Mahar The Met, Philly

June 25- Kikagaku Moyo Elsewhere rooftop, BK

July 28- OFF! Le Poisson Rouge

Oct. 20- Thee Oh Sees Warsaw BK

GBV did 59 songs in about 2 hours and 40 minutes. They were great, and that's with a set that was at least half tunes released in the past 12 months.

CORRECTION - past 3 months.

My friend is a huge fan and went. and when he showed me the set list it kinda made my head spin. granted, I know the songs are short but that's a long time! He was telling me they have (I think?) two more albums to be released this year and another two in 2020 or something.

The kicker is that they are really tight and focused. I don't think there were more than a few seconds between most of the songs. That said, Bob does have a cooler full of booze on stage. While he tends to hand out a lot of it to folks in the front row, he was still showing the effects towards the end of the set.

It's amazing they can still keep up that pace. Out of the maybe 10 times I've seen GBV thay were usually great. One show at Warsaw we left after 2 hours because they progressively got too wasted, another there we left after 1 hour because they came out already too fucked up to play well and Bob was super-belligerent.

The key is that outside of Bob himself, the band is a no-nonsense, full speed ahead machine. Especially Doug Gillard on lead guitar and drummer Kevin March.

It's not a gig, but I'm super excited to be attending a theatrical screening of the DEADWOOD movie followed by a Q&A with Ian McShane and Robin Weigert.
