Upcoming gigs you're going to?

Re: Upcoming gigs you're going to?

Cirumstances dont always make it easy for me to get to gigs. The fact that most don't appear to be advertised outside of Facebook also doesnt help, but with some luck I'll be seeing ......

The Outcasts next week

Then in the new year I'm hoping to see gigs by the Cockney Rejects, Ruts/the Professionals, and most excited about the Starjets.

If you're not doing anything on 2/9, I'm selling records at the Trenton Punk Rock Flea Market there (Neshaminy Brewery).

I'll also be at the following shows:

2/19 - The Chills @ Bell House
5/23 - The Undertones @ Gramercy Theatre
6/22 - Jawbox @ Brooklyn Steel

And some other stuff, too.

Porcupine and The Flesh Eaters this Thurs 3/14 in Boston.

I went to this show last Saturday. Got to meet Tony Levin and Jerry Marotta. If you don't know their resumes do a wiki search, pretty impressive. Along with singer guitarist Phil Keaggy they put on quite a show:

When I saw them here a few years, they played together, Los Straitjackets did their own mini-set in the middle and then they played together some more. This is a great show.

I saw The Monochrome Set in Jersey City a little over a week ago.

I'll also be at the following shows:
Damien Jurado at Park Church Co-Op in Brooklyn on 5/15
Graham Parker 5/17 - Town Crier in Beacon (this is the day after my birthday and I'm going with a good friend whose birthday is also right around then and we're both massive GP fans; should be great)

90% sure it's only Ragan on vocals or at least I think I read that somewhere recently (maybe even in this thread). Someone please correct me if I'm wrong here.

I was afraid of that. I saw HWM last January when Light It Up was released, and they had Chris Cresswell from the Flatliners filling in for Wollard. He did a fine job, but the sound is so different without Wollard's vocals. Since I'm seeing them play No Division in its entirety (which is the only album on which I haven't seen them tour), I was really hoping I'd get to see Wollard play. This is the pits.

Go to setlist.com you can see what they play. They don't change it up much. Don't check out the site if you wish to be surprised at the show with what they will play.

Do they still have the bar area where they serve Polish food? I'm going there tonight for Swervedriver and haven't been there since 2005. I'm just as excited for the Zwiec and pierogies and what not and I can't wait for the show.

Guess you found out for yourself, but hell yeah they better still have the pierogis! Not the best sound at Warsaw, even more so now that Brooklyn has some of the best sounding venues in NYC but I still like going there........and pierogis.

Yeah I was at MHOW about a week earlier and Brooklyn Steel a few days after that and both of those have crystal clear sound, unbelievable. Rough Trade is probably the best. With that said, Swervedriver sounded better at Warsaw than anyone I ever saw there did between 2002 and 2005. That's for sure. I was also told that Alvvays (I think) or maybe someone else who played there recently sounded good, too, so maybe they finally fixed their sound issues? And yeah, the pierogies, hunters stew, Zywiec, etc. were on point. I'm glad that place hasn't changed. Holy fuck is that part of Greenpoint all built up now, though. It used to be so desolate (and I kinda preferred it that way though that might be just my memories of the old days talking). But yeah, what you said. A big part of the appeal of that place (to me, at least) has always been the food, Polish beer, etc. and the hasn't changed since the '60s (when Polish immigrants started moving there en masse to the best of my understanding) kind of vibe.
