Upcoming gigs you're going to?

Got nothing coming up but saw Carcass and Behemoth separately over the past week. Both good shows though Behemoth or the promoter screwed over the support bands and one ended up playing after Behemoth.

And...just like that I'm going to see Tav Falco tonight in Brooklyn (with Mike Watt on bass and Toby Dammit on drums). And tomorrow I'm going to see Worriers play an early (6pm) set at the Cake Shop. Some sort of CMJ event.

I saw Menace in Hartford at 2000 Tons of TNT 2 or 3 years ago, and just saw The Clap at a local playground in July. Glad they were both enjoyable.

SLEATER-KINNEY 12/10 at Kings Theater & I'm thinking about going there in Feb. for WILCO/BILL FRISSELL

Saw Subhumans here in Denver last night and they were fucking fantastic! Dick sounded great and his level of energy was unreal. If you're a fan, don't miss out on seeing them.

We're going to see Ought and Accordion Crimes this Friday, and then Denver Broncos UK (Slim Cessna's Auto Club side project) this Saturday. Great week for shows.

I just bought a ticket for Walter Schriefels new band DEAD HEAVENS, who I've seen, they are really good psyche-rock, doing a live soundtrack, playing in front of Woody Allen's SLEEPER. I don't know what to expect, I guess it won't be "songs" per se but might be very cool....

I am really on the fence on the Flamin' Groovies. They've got such an amazing catalog, but the word from certain folks whose opinions I respect is that the drummer is terrible and really brings things down. I keep thinking about something Pilster said about the Ron Reyes version of BF that he saw - essentially that with different, not AWFUL, drummer it could have been a really good version of BF. But bad drummers have the ability to kill things like no one else on stage. Is it worth $20 to head out to Brooklyn on a Sunday night to find out...?

Next up for me is shooting King Diamond 11/27 at the Aragon where he will be playing Abigail in its entirety! The first time I saw him play was at that same venue on the Abigail tour in 1987.

Imma see a great band called BCT (aka: 'Bob Carol Ted) which is Dave Rick (ex Bongwater, Phantom Tollbooth, King Missile)

Playing here in Brooklyn on 11/28. Saw them once already. Dave is one of my guitar heroes. Completely unique style of playing.

I saw The Men play this past Sunday. It was just kinda okay. These guys change radically from album to album and if the new songs they played are an indication the next one will be kinda skronky/noisy with lots of saxophone.
I'm gonna go see Blockhouses on Saturday at this "Ping Pong Club" in Manhattan. Seriously, exactly like a bowling alley, except ping pong.
I scored a ticket to see Superchunk headline in Brooklyn on 12/3 at a smallish club. It's the night after they play some big ass bill in Manhattan at a much larger space. So happy I get to see them play a full set instead of a 30 minute slot with a dozen other bands.
On 12/11 the Figgs are playing their annual holiday show at the Bowery Electric.

I hadn't heard that. Thanks for the warning, but it's a Friday night, a bunch of friends will also be there and I'll likely never get a chance to see any version of them ever again. The show here is $20, too.

Beach Slang totally ripped it up. How can you not like a band that plays 2 'Mats covers and a Dramarama one in their set? Their originals are great too. I picked up the white vinyl full length at their show on Tuesday night and their EP's were ordered from Dead Broke Records today 8-)

I've got tickets to see THE GO! TEAM in Brooklyn tomorrow. And my brother-in-law just secured a pair of tickets to see Springsteen at MSG next week. My sister has a work thing she can't get out of so I am the benefactor of her bad luck. The tickets are GA on the floor. Should be innerestin'.

They are doing a record-release show a week from tonight in London (i'm heading over to the UK and Spain for work next week). Was hoping to also catch up with Hank Garfield while he's in the UK on tour...not sure about that though. I saw the members in 1980 and they were great. I love the first two records.
