Pitchfork Top 50 Albums from 2014

Postby lewdd » Sun Jan 11, 2015 4:38 pm

I just checked out their list and can say that I have not heard a song by anyone on the list. I guess I'm out of the loop of modern music.

I own 6 and have listened to several more on Spotify. For the most part, what speaks to the kids don't speak to me.

I also don't know any of Pitchfork's top 100 songs of the year either as that list is as foreign to me as the top album list.

Pitchfork can suck it :!: Shellac's probably good and 1 song on Ex Hex reminds me of a good Liz Phair tune. Priests are nothing but hype and haven't come up with an actual song, yet. Taylor Swift just doesn't get enough mentions in the music world these days. She better hire a better press agent. Spoon had a good song.... years ago. The Swans? If it doesn't sound like a twisted guy torturing small children, why does Midge still like them? Who the fuck are 90% of these bands and why should I care :?: I don't need these self-proclaimed tastemakers to suggest what I should like. Burn them all.

I wouldn't want to listen to most of those. The only one I might is Shellac.

I have better taste than Pitchfork.

No Morrissey
No Bob Mould
No Johnny Marr
No Fucked Up (or did I miss it?)

At least Spoon made it.

I own 1/50.

I do want to listen to the Iceage and Shellac at some point though.

On the best of punk list, I've heard of In School. They're actually a pretty good hardcore band out of New York. Favorite song of theirs is Maggot Rot.

Thanks. I only own physical copies of 2 of these (Real Estate, Ty Segall) and have heard maybe 6-7 others via streaming services and what not. Generally speaking, I agree with scannest, but that is OK. I'm almost 40.
