Dough Boys Promo 7 Inch

So I happen to own a copy of the Doughboys (on the label it's "Dough Boys", I'm not sure if that's a mistake or how they spelled it initially) promo seven inch from 1988. I have never been able to track down much solid information on this record, but apparently it came out in 1988 on MTL. records. The record contains different recordings of songs from the first album, "Your Related"/"Stranger from Within"/"Forecast". There is no cover. From what I can gather, they were never commercially available, possibly sold on their first tour, and were meant to be sent to radio stations across Canada and the US. I have heard there were 500 pressed, but the majority of those were somehow damaged (probably the Great Wyndmoor Flood of '91) and only a couple hundred actually exist. I found it at a local record shop a couple of decades ago and bought for like a buck. It has been quite sometime since I actually listened to it.

About a year ago, I read, here on the Dagboard, about that "Discogs" site. I checked it out and decided that it would be fun to put my collection up there. Over the course of the next couple of months I got most of it up there. Occasionally, I had something that wasn't already listed. For the most part, I just skipped it because it seemed really complicated to add a new entry and frankly, I just didn't care enough to deal with it.

When I searched for this particular "Dough Boys" record it wasn't there. I decided I'd enter it, it's only three songs, and wondered if anyone would ask me about it. Well, in the 8 months since I entered it, I have received 11 inquiries (most of them from the Montreal area) into selling this record. The most recent one came yesterday, and the guy offered to swap me the Red Rockers "Guns of Revolution" seven inch, including the band photo cover, which sold on popspike in 2012 for $721. I was a little stunned. I had no idea that Dough Boys record could be something that valuable. I have always wanted a copy of the Red Rockers single. I don't really need the sleeve, but it would be cool to have.

So I ask the record nerds of Daghouse, should I do this? Should I even trust this guy? Has anybody ever seen this Dough Boys record for sale? If so, for how much? Not that I look often, but I have never seen it on popspike. Has anyone ever seen this Dough Boys record anywhere? Thoughts, opinions?

Sell it on ebay or throw it up on the Discogs marketplace. I don't know what it's worth, but no one emails out of the blue to make a lowball offer on a record...

Edit:

I have found an ebay auction of that record from last year for $12.50 (item number 171413726529). The guy offering you Red Rockers is either off his rocker or running a scam of some kind...

I love the Doughboys, but I'd be surprised at any record by them being any way worth a lot of money. Fortunately/unfortunately how good a band or record is does not always convert to value.

I'll pay you the above listed $12.50 for this.

I wonder if it is the same recordings that were eventually released as the La Majeure 1987 CD EP:

I've seen it on several trade lists before. I wasn't aware it was different versions of the songs, I just had assumed that the songs were from the LP. I can't imagine it would be worth more than $15-$20, but as ebay has taught me "Something is worth what some other idiot is willing to bid and then, maybe, pay for at a later date".

Here are the three copies I have of the other 7" (which may or may not have 2 of the same songs on it):

So I'm just going to keep it. I might buy that La Majeure thing too. I don't know if they are them same recordings or not. Well, 2 out of three anyway.

Thanks for the thoughts and comments.

UPDATE: One week after my last post in this thread someone sold a copy on Discogs for $89. So, not quite $700, but not $12.50 either.

IMPORTANT UPDATE:

It sold for $122.77 in June. I'm thinking by the end of the year it will be selling for $500 and I will be going to Sizzler.

I bet that's in Canadian dollars. I'll go as high as $18.96US, but not a penny more.

I accept your wager. Let's make it $10. I win.

Bidder paid €110.00, which converts to $122.77 in US dollars.

Or you can send me a delicious Nantucket Nectar Big Cranberry Juice.
