That's totally bonkers. The only record that really falls into that category is Fidelity Jones.
not really. i may be being a bit harsh. they were still releasing good stuff in 86, but you can see the drop off came pretty quickly. by the early 90s, this label was churning out mostly garbage. here is a quick once over:
1985 15 Minor Threat Salad Days
15½ Scream This Side Up Rough Trade Records
15¾ Reptile House I Stumble as the Crow Flies
16 Rites of Spring Rites of Spring
17 Beefeater Plays for Lovers
1986 17½ Mission Impossible /
Lünchmeat Thanks / Getting Shit for Growing up Different Sammich Records
18 The Snakes I Won't Love You 'til You're More Like Me Discard Records
19 Dag Nasty Can I Say
20 Egg Hunt Me and You
21 Gray Matter Take it Back
1987 22 Rites of Spring All Through a Life
1986 22½ Soul Side Less Deep Inside Keeps Sammich Records
1987 23 Beefeater House Burning Down
24 Embrace Embrace
25 Scream Banging the Drum
26 Dag Nasty Wig Out at Denko's
26½ Ignition Anger Means / Proven Hollow Ig Records
1988 26¾ Shudder to Think It Was Arson Sammich Records
27 Minor Threat Live
28 Fire Party Fire Party
29 Soul Side Trigger Sammich Records
30 Fugazi Fugazi
31 Ignition Machination Ig Records
1989 32 Various artists State of the Union
33 Three Dark Days Coming
1990 33⅓ Vile Cherubs Post Humorous Relief Cherubic Delusions
1989 33⅔ Holy Rollers Origami Sessions Adult Swim Records
34 Soul Side Soul Side
35 Fugazi Margin Walker
36 13 Songs
37 Fire Party New Orleans Opera
38 Soul Side Hot Bodi-Gram
1990 39 Ignition Orafying Mysticle
40 Minor Threat Complete Discography
how many of these records do you bust on a daily basis? i really like ignition but the earliest records are the best ones. dag nasty got boring really quickly. soulside-the first lp was the best record. i like trigger, bass and some of hot bodi gram, but there was also a lot of filler in those records. does anyone(or did anyone ever) listen to fire party, the snakes or the holy rollers? i used to like the three record, but it has aged badly.
compared to the first six years of dischord, this stuff is just not as good. compare this to almost any other punk scene in the world in 86 to 90, and there is no contest. NYC and UK/earache blow this shit out of the water. any record swiz put out beats any of these dischord records in my book.
