Who’s next?

Who’s next?

Postby gregpolard » Sun Dec 21, 2014 8:12 pm

So in the past couple years, there have been shows by so many of the legendary DC HC bands. My question...who’s next?

I've seen Gray Matter, Marginal Man, Dag Nasty, King Face, Black Market Baby, Swiz, Soul Side, and Moss Icon.

I’m guessing no chance of Ignition, Fugazi, Rites of Spring....which I’m fine with. Jawbox would be nice for more than just a tv appearance.

i want to say 2008 or 2009, and maybe another show since then. i might be wrong, but i think they have reunited a couple of times and just played the black cat.

Completely missed this. And yet I recently listed the Take It Back EP as one of my all-time favourite records.. .

Gunter, Grey Matter played abbreviated sets so you didn't miss that much. Their 1st mini-set was really fun & strong but the 2nd time around was a mess cos Jeff couldn't get his guitar sound working right for him. He rocked in New Wet Kojak that same evening though.

Version (ahem).... GI :?:

Gpvernment Issue 2015 is putting together a killer set & wait till you see/hear John Barry play songs from Joyride, Boycott & You. We feel that we've burned out our DC audience so planning on hitting key cities next yr. Hope to see some of y'all.

Stabb, please play Philadelphia and please let Easy Creatures open the gig :)

John, I only listed shows I saw. I saw GI in Norfolk in the '80s, and I've seen SA!/History Repeated 5 or 6 times, but I missed the GI reunions.

I saw Gray Matter play all of Take it Back and some other hits, and it was great.

I always think of Gray Matter as a very underrated band. Even among people I know who were real DC/Dischord fanboys they never got much love.

I like all Gray Matter, but I LOVE TiB, so that show was perfect for me.

No, you're correct. Of all the bands that VS has listed, they're the only one I haven't seen and they're a huge favorite of mine, so I'm bummed about that, but not complaining given how many great DC bands I HAVE had an opportunity to see in recent years that I never, ever thought I'd get to see. Anyway, they played the Black Cat in 2008 and then again last year I think for anniversary shows (15th and 20th maybe?). I couldn't go either time for various reasons.

Their finest moment for sure; maybe my favorite Dischord release ever, actually.
