Life Hack: Ghetto iPod Touch

Step One: buy a burner smart phone. I recommend the Alcatel Evolve. $60 at Best Buy.
Step Two: buy a kick ass mini SD card. You can get 64 GB for about $30.
Step Three: enjoy your new wi-fi enabled media player with endless exchangeable storage.

Better than an actual Touch, because even if it dies you still have your files, which can be accessed with a card reader and laptop.

I have not had good luck with micro SD cards. I think my wife and I had 3-4 of them die on us. Great idea though.

Really? I have one that's bounced between several phones, and I've never had a problem with it.

I think they died in tablets rather than phones.

I bought a new cell phone so I am turning my Galaxy S3 into an mp3 player. I have a 64gb microSD card in it. I will also be able to use the bluetooth feature with my bluetooth portable speaker system so I can use it on the patio when it warms back up in 5-6 months.

We bought our son a Sphero for Christmas.

You control the thing via smart-phone apps. My wife's idea was to give him an old cell phone we had lying around, but the one we found died very quickly. Now I am wondering if this might be the way to go. Thanks!
