I checked this out the other day at the local record store while also checking out the new Obituary. It is solid. I was very surprised. The drums are a little too perfect sounding at times but not in a cringe worthy way. The vocals are awesome as is the guitar sound. I will be picking this up at some point.

I wont buy the new Obituary, just on Spotify for listening. Executioners Return was a big letdown.

being from the Bay Area, I'm a huge EXO supporter, but this album hasn't clicked with me yet. I gotta give it more listens, maybe I'm still used to Dukes. Commenting on Dave's comment, I think that Tom Hunting is one of the best drummers in metal. Hopefully EXODUS gets what's due to them after all these years.

The drums seem to be very perfect. Perhaps quantized in a pro-tools program. That's what a lot of bands do these days.

This is why I don't listen to most modern metal. Sounds too weird. The drummer from Obituary said he wouldn't be using any studio trickery on the new album, but I hear parts that seem to be too perfect. I could be wrong. Even perfectly played drumming sounds different to the studio tweaked stuff.

Current metal rarely does it for me,but I really liked the Dread Sovereign record this year.

(admittedly there is a huge bias there. Local band/mates etc)

I gave it a listen and really didn't like the vocals which is weird since FABULOUS DISASTER is one of my favorite albums. I thought they sounded more suited to a black metal band than a thrash metal band.
