Blockbuster

Postby 77clash » Sun Nov 09, 2014 9:32 pm

Well, after about 30 years, I finally learned this weekend that the Cockney Rejects song "Blockbuster" was a cover from the band The Sweet. That was almost as bad a feeling as sitting in a bar in Pittsburgh and hearing the Rolling Stones playing "Stupid Girl" on the radio. I had thought it was a CH3 song up until then. Maybe I will make a mix CD of punk bands covering rock n roll songs for my Daghouse mix tape.

I made a Spotify playlist not that long ago that had a similar theme (punk covers of classic rock songs). I am very familiar with the originals of those, but not the covers (at least not off-hand) though I feel like I should be. Thanks.

Never heard the Cockney rejects version.

Sweet is fantastic and very much a cornerstone of the empire that is Punk Rock
