Got tickets for Kev, a co-worker and myself today at work. My boss was amused by my display of joy once tickets were purchased. Yes, I danced around the room in an very uncoordinated manner. He told me that he had the same feeling when his sisters sent away for Beatles tickets back in the day. Without the dancing.

Thanks. Originally, my plan was to buy a ticket and if something comes up, I would sell it in the off chance that I couldn't make it. It looks fairly certain that we'll be able to get down there that weekend, though.

I had a feeling that they still did. Thanks, mommagriz. The problem is that I'm 2 1/2 hours away in Philly, so it isn't feasible for me to pick one up myself. Would some very kind person in DC be able to pick one up for me? I can pay immediately. Then that person could either ship the ticket or just hold it for me until the day of the show (probably better to do the latter since I worry about it got lost in the mail). It would mean a lot. Thanks.

So, I just listened to Soulside for the first time in my life. I might have liked them had I listened to them 25 years ago. Not sure how I missed them at that point. They sound like Wig era Dag with a splash of Fugazi. Anyway, I can't get into them right now. They would probably be fun to watch live though if they played their earlier, faster tunes. Have fun!

What did you listen to? If it wasn't Less Deep Inside Keeps, it was the wrong place to start.

What did you listen to? If it wasn't Less Deep Inside Keeps, it was the wrong place to start.

I thought it was super clear from what he wrote that he enjoyed that era (Less Deep Inside Keeps, which contains earlier, faster tunes) much more than the later stuff (which I personally enjoy MUCH more; just rocked side 1 of Hot Bodi-Gram before work today). I'm curious, too, though.

I have a new theory about these records relating to Wire (they covered "Ex Lion Timer," of course) and how which era you prefer relates to that and what it says about your taste. If you like LDIK, you probably prefer Pink Flag over 154. HBG is their 154 and Trigger their Chairs Missing. I realized it this morning as parts of side 1 reminded me a bit of 154 and that's a connection I never made before, but I know they must have been fans. What's odd is that you, like me, are a huge fan of post-punk stuff that is directly inspired or similar to 154.

As mentioned in another thread by Lewdd, I unfortunately will not be able to attend this event. Silver Screams had already committed to a local show on 12/19, and $-wise it just doesn't make sense at this time.

I hope everyone that goes has a great time. On the plus side, Lewdd will be coming to Boston for a visit that weekend-so there is a silver lining :!:

My wife is a GVSB fan like I was in the '90s, but admitted to me the other day that she'd never listened to Soulside. She's definitely more into '90s post-hardcore Dischord stuff (Fugazi, Jawbox, et al.) as well as stuff like GVSB.
