Shit, sounds like the only way to get the "extras" is on the box set. Hope it's not too pricey. It's very rare I buy cd's these days but Birdman are an all time favourite.

It's 6 CDs and a DVD. Maybe too much Birdman for me.

Saw them in London circa 2000 for their first gig since the early days. Damn good it was too.

I saw them on the Zeno Beach tour. Great show and the album was good too, especially for a reunion record.

I saw them twice on that tour (once here and once in Baltimore when they didn't have Pip Hoyle, their keyboardist). Both shows were out of this world, particularly the Baltimore one.

And yet I've seen Deniz Tek with his band twice now and they were really dull both times.

Hopefully the mastering is well done and they release everything as reasonably priced, separate 2xCD sets.

It makes me feel not as bad for having missed him here. He did a great session recently for BreakThru Radio, though. I can't link to it here at work, though.

Maybe it's Rob Younger who makes the difference. Zeno Beach really reminded me of a New Christs record.

I think it came down to his lame backing band. Really rudimentary drummer and bass player. No feel at all. And (FWIW) really goofy looking. They could have been twins and looked like bodybuilders - huge chests and arms, played shirtless, just not very rock'n'roll.

Bumped into a few people. The Ripcord/Violent Arrest guys, and other old locals I knew. None of whom knew the others were going.

Good taste see. ;)

Yep. I like AC/DC, too, but if I am being truthful then the only other band I would consider for this title would be the Go-Betweens. Are you a fan? I think you might be because you like The Bats and the latter's more recent stuff is VERY similar to The Go-Betweens' last few records to the point where I have trouble telling them apart until the vocals come in.

They opened the show here, too, and were quite dull.

Last I read he had Art and Steve Godoy playing with him (actual twins and former pro skaters - covered with tattoos) - One of them was filling in on drums with the Vibrators a few years ago, and I thought he totally sucked. That said, the Birdman show I saw in Kansas City some years back was one of the best shows I have ever seen. Rusty from You Am I was drumming on that tour.

That's them, although they don't look as big as I remember. But the shirtless bit...
Rusty = monster drummer. Radio Birdman did a Rockpalast with that line-up. Well worth watching:
