REPLACEMENTS TONIGHT!

REPLACEMENTS TONIGHT!

C'mon, who's going? I know a ton of NYC folks who will be there (even a few driving up from Philly). Anyone else on here?

I wish! Have fun. There's a neat article about them in the new issue of RS (the one with Taylor Swift on the cover)

Had the greatest musical force that ever existed (that being King Crimson) not happened to have been performing at Best Buy Theater the very same night, I would have gone.

Enjoy.

What a show! A beautiful night in Queens to hang out & watch one of the greatest bands ever. I saw a whole bunch of ppl I haven't seen in years, it was a little overwhelming. Sorry I missed ya, scannest, I'm sure you were right up front! Came in during Hold Steady. They were alright. The singer annoys me with his "antics"
Didn't matter, The Replacements came on right at 8:30 & played till 10 A perfect set of tunes from one of the best catalogues in RnR.
I've seen lots of these reunions and this one was def the best!

Yeah, it was a pretty perfect night. Only bummer was the 10pm curfew which meant only 90 minutes (they played about 15 minutes longer in St. Paul). Beautiful weather, nice venue, so many friends in attendance it was crazy. I was there early, but hung our towards the back of the floor. I did the big squeeze with Aquaman in Chicago last year and was fine with the view.
Seriously, maybe the greatest collection of rock songs by one band since the big hitters of the classic rock era. I put Westerberg up there with the best ever and this band right now is on fire. And listening to a (albeit, small) stadium full of people sing along with "Bastards of Young" got me a little choked up.

Agreed on the Replacements being at the top of their game. It's quite difficult to believe but it's true!

I managed to see them a dozen times between '87 and '91 and only 1 of those shows was better than these 2 reunions shows I've seen.

Chris, are you gonna be in Tempe for the Descendents/Replacements?

So much this. You guys have no idea how jealous I am. I've been playing their records for the last few hours. And I agree with what scannest said about their catalog. They have become one of my favorite bands of all-time over the years.

And clash77, it's Paul and Tommy with Josh Freese on drums since Chris Mars doesn't wanna do it and a guy from the Magnolias (and Paul's solo band; same with Freese; scannest please correct me if I'm wrong), Mike Linehan I think, on guitar.

Lead guitarist is Dave Minehan who used to play in the Neighborhoods from Boston.

Thank you. I can never remember his name (I didn't use Google) for some silly reason.
