I didn't have much of an opinion about them past Back on the Map before this. Now I hate them.

it's like they are trying to capture the charm of sheer terror doing "boy's don't cry", but it fails on all levels.

Not sure how I feel about that cover song, but I have heard good things about the rest of the record. As much as I love the first 3 12"s, I am a big fan of the later stuff as well... Digital Warfare and Tear it Down were great. I can't wait to hear the whole record.

Not my thing, but I liked them up through Sudden Death Overtime. That cover is still better than Blast Furnace, though. I almost saw them over the summer, but I wound up being on vacation.

EDIT: I wonder if this is just Choke's 2014 version of fucking with the audience.

This isn't their first cover - they did "Big Mouth Strikes Again" on '96's '16 Valve Hate.'

They also did the Gilligan's Island theme song (on the Step on It CD and the Same Mistake / Might Makes Right 7"), and "White Rabbit" on Sudden Death Overtime.

I ´d rather listen to Negative FX and Last Rights. :D
Comparing to NFX and LR, Slapshot is a mediocre band.
There are some solid stuff by Slapshot, but not even close to NFX & LR.

I was just joking. I heard a Slapshot song once about 25+ years ago. It sounded like a shit slow Exploited.

I like BOTM. I never followed them after that. I never liked Depeche Mode. I HATE this particular song. Other than maybe the Circle Jerks, I HATE punk/hardcore bands doing pop covers. This isn't even a good cover. It's worse than the original, which I HATE, if I didn't already mention it.

I pressed play on the above. Got about two seconds in after the vocal came in. WTF?!

Half of any Dickies set is covers.

Damn son, you don't waste your time with details, do you? Are they covers of pop songs from 1984 to present?

The songs Circle Jerks covered (at least on record) were typically pop songs from the '60s and '70s like Jackie DeShannon's "Put A Little Love in Your Heart" or Paul Revere and the Raiders' "Just Like Me" (and Garland Jeffreys' "Wild in the Streets", of course) just like the kind of stuff the Dickies did, hence the connection.

How about them details now?

Hence the "maybe". This post is about a fucking Depeche Mode cover. If the Dickies cover DM, they can suck it.
