Midge shall be wearing something much more appealing than a "nice shirt", greg. He's already being tailor-made a striped Mod jacket to match mine and some fabulous pants (that shall remain a lovely surprise) for his onstage duet of "Understand ... please UNDERSTAND, BITCH :!: "

G.I. shall be: John Barry/Karl Hill/Dwayne Bruner/me. I'm sure some of my dag-friends are saying "WHAAAT :?: :!: 2 original G.I. MEMBERS :?: :!: I've thought long and hard over this but feel that 2 original members is perfectly acceptable for a band of some history. The Damned have Sensible & Vanian so that works for me. Doing any type of oldschool Reunion/gig with 1 original member is unacceptable to me. Believe me, I won't do that. It's just not fair to anyone. John, Karl, Dwayne and I all rehearsed together before Brian Gay made it from Chicago for Damaged City Fest recently. Dwayne knows our material and also a quick talented learner. His former DC band was Late Bloomer and has worked with people like Peter Moffett @ Drums Unlimited touring doing tech-work with various musicians across Europe. He's a great guy and amazing bassist. We wouldn't settle for anything less.

Any other line-ups are in the making but my old friend/guitarist Tom Lyle is anxiously awaiting to do more. We're looking into that.

Please do GI 5 and You with Tom and play Philly. You can make that happen, right? :D

And this is only tangentially related, but I've been enjoying Tom's posts in Now Playing on the FB.

You is seriously one of my favorite records of all time....first G.I. I ever heard.....had the promo poster hanging on my wall for years. The musicianship and songwriting are top notch......love the vocals, John, as well.

Thanks: JGJR, greg, and captain. Tom's been talking to me about Joyride songs but I think a few off S/T & You could happen, too. Very kind words on You & me, captain. 8-)

JGJR, I enjoy Tom's posts (even if I'm not a Can/Gong/prog-man) on Now Playing. He's studied his 70's Rock/Prog vinyl well enough to be teaching a course on it.

If there’s ever a Philly/NJ show I’m there :)

I second the captain's opinion of You, BTW. It's one of the finest records of the '80s. There are songs on there like "Caring Line" that just really speak to me in ways most other stuff (even stuff I really like) doesn't lyrically.

Okay, for those of y'all who were dying to see/hear GI do JOYRIDE again... we've decided to relearn a handful from that LP (Blending In, Familiar, Boots, and Understand) and there may be more like Time to Escape + 4-Wall Hermit? We've taught John Barry these songs & he's digging playing them just like Tom used to. We've had a really funtime doing the first 4 on the list and looking fwd to tearing into them live in Houston, TX on 2/27 @ Fitzgerald's.

So far this has been the only solid booking we've gotten but we're discussing with a promoter on doing a Portland gig in 2015.
