Such a terrific meat and potatoes rock and roll band.

Catchy and criminally underrated.

Midge approves.

I remember owning Concrete Pillbox, but it never struck me as being as good as what Soul Asylum or the Replacements were doing at the time. I guess I should look for it online and give it another shot.

I'd say Concrete Pillbox is more consistent than any single Soul Asylum record, and I'm a big SA fan. If I have the years correct, they came right as The Mats were starting to mellow out, so they shoulda been a nice alternative for the people who still wanted the early more rocking Mats. So underrated.

Dime Store Dream is in my rotation at the moment.

But the Off the Hook album has 'Don't Pack it In'. I seen them do it live and it was so damn catchy. Nice guys from what I remember too.

I have the "For Rent" LP, but haven't pulled it out since I first bought it.

Saw them open up for (I think) Nova Mob at Maxwell's back around '92 or '93....didn't leave too much of an impression. Music was OK, but I think the vocals were a bit too reedy.
