I remember owning Concrete Pillbox, but it never struck me as being as good as what Soul Asylum or the Replacements were doing at the time. I guess I should look for it online and give it another shot.

I'd say Concrete Pillbox is more consistent than any single Soul Asylum record, and I'm a big SA fan. If I have the years correct, they came right as The Mats were starting to mellow out, so they shoulda been a nice alternative for the people who still wanted the early more rocking Mats. So underrated.
I have the "For Rent" LP, but haven't pulled it out since I first bought it.
Saw them open up for (I think) Nova Mob at Maxwell's back around '92 or '93....didn't leave too much of an impression. Music was OK, but I think the vocals were a bit too reedy.
