Of all time, I's say...

88 Fingers Louie
Oblivion
Sludgeworth
Naked Raygun
And right now I'm listening to a lot of Shot Baker.

Like em or love em. Up to you.

I love me plenty Rise Against too, but lately I'm reflecting on the more punk stuff.

In the p-rock era:

Big Black
Effigies
Naked Raygun (Oz + Basement Screams + Throb Throb)
Articles of Faith
Da
Jesus Lizard were pretty good too.

Before the p-rock era:

Howlin Wolf
Little Walter
Sonny Boy Williamson II (honorary Chicagoan)
and i cried
aloud to heaven
and i knelt
on all six legs
and vowed a vow
of vengeance

Best answer. "Built for Comfort" and "300 Pounds of Joy" are two of the best songs ever. FWIW, though, I do love some of the bands mentioned so far.

it's weird, while I did miss listing PEGBOY, I do like 'em, but nothing else blew me away aside from the "strong reaction" album. also funny it that I heard PEGBOY before I heard NAKED RAYGUN.

No point in endlessly adding to the endless lists. We could go on and on with this area. Loads of great stuff. Some not mentioned I don't think are Bloodsport and their ''I Am the Game' 12", an overlooked gem in the Effigies dept. Some went onto Jack Scratch who did similar stuff. Those Group Of Individuals 7"s were winners for fans of Clash style anarchist punk. Also I-Attack in recent years for raging hardcore. Many others will spring to mind.

Lots of good bands mentioned. Apocalypse Hoboken was great band and I'm a big fan of Strike Under's recorded legacy. On the metal side, Trouble was cool at their peak, although I haven't heard very much of whatever they've done in recent years. Looking forward to the debut LP from The Skull (featuring Eric Wagner, Jeff Olson, and Ron Holzner, all former members of Trouble). Cap'n Jazz was also a good band.
