Let me introduce myself!

Let me introduce myself!

Postby The Snake » Sun Aug 31, 2014 3:32 am

Hey, you ALL!

I´m a new member The Snake.
I live in Zagreb, Croatia (Balkan), 36 year old hardcore punk, sXe, being into hc/punk from early 90´s and a fan of Dag Nasty, off course.
I have been playing in bunch of hc/punk bands from the mid 90´s and I´m still playing in hc/punk bands, but you probably never heard about any of them, haha. Also, I´m into zines and I have been doing zines from 2000 til present.
I´m obsessed with TEAR IT UP and I think that TIU is the best band ever, no discussion. posting.php?mode=post&f=2#
As for Dag Nasty, my favorite albums are Can I say and Field Day (yes, I´m one of those and I have Filed Day on vinyl and CD), but I also like other stuff except for Minority of One, I never got into that LP, not sure why.
Except for TIU, my other favorite bands are: THE LAST, YOUTH OF TODAY, UNITY, THE BEACH BOYS, DESCENDENTS/ALL, T. S. O. L. and bunch of other bands. Mr. Stabb will be pleased when I say that I´m also a fan of GI (but I´m more into early period).
Anyway, I have been following this board this past year and enjoyed in some of the debates and I just wanted to join and say few things here and there. I hope that you will welcome me with open arms and excuse my sometimes not so perfect English.

Hi.

I have the same problem with MOO. I think (for me) it's the lyrical perspective that Dave put on. It doesn't talk to me at all, and I've had that issue with a bunch of DBL records as well. Not saying the lyrics suck, though. They just kinda wash over me.

Anyway, welcome.

Thanks for welcoming.

Actually, I´m a big fan of DBL, at least first five albums, other records are just OK for me. But yeah, MOO lyrics and music don´t do much for me, especially music it seems like is more close to Bad Religion that Dag Nasty sound.

Punkrock welcomes to the Snake :!: And I like the old G.I., too. :D Just tough to play the stuff sometimes.

That's sad about Jake the Snake. :(

Thanks!
I don´t think later GI material is bad, I just prefer more Mental Effort & Boycott Stabb (but, I also listen to a lot: Legless Bull, first demo and Joy Ride).

A part of me was secretly hoping this was Tuh's new account and he re-posted the photo of the dude with the huge balls (that may or may not be 77clash) as his welcoming back present. Oh well.

Welcome The Snake, I am The FlexMyHead and I like to post the same 10-15 photos, mostly involving records, me in a Swiz shirt, gnomes and/or Hummels.

Thanks for welcoming and interest!

Zines, I did No, ALL! zine from 2001. to 2003. (4 issues)
In 2002. I started International Old School Conspiracy zine which I still do (16 issues so far).
In 2010. I started What Remains Is More Than Words zine which i still do (6 issues so far, it is named after the Mouthpiece song, by the way).
In IOSC zine I often put some material in English, last issue was done half English, half Croatian and it has interviews with: YOU SUCK!, TEAR IT UP (old one), COKE BUST, LANDVERRAAD and Joe D. Foster (Unity, Ignite, Speak 714...).

Bands, I wont mention every band or project because that would be too many, but here are some...
THEYSUCK! (1998. to 2007.) Early 80s inspired hardcore punk but only bass, drums and vocals.
LASTING VALUES (2000.to 2005.) Kind of youth crew mixed with thrashy hardcore plus some mosh too.
EQUAL (2001. to 2003.) Youth crew hardcore, YOT inspired music with sarcastic and critical lyrics.
Fx Px Ox (2001. to 2008.) They were from Skopje, Macedonia. I was in a band for a short period and played drums in the summer of 2004. on their Croatian tour. Fx Px Ox played fast hardcore, toured everywhere and was one of the best hardcore punk bands in Balkan.
VASELINE CHILDREN (2005. to 2008.) TEAR IT UP inspired hardcore punk, toured twice Europe and pissed off lots of people.
EVAZIJA (2006. to 2008.) Fast hardcore punk with female vocals.
JUNK MESSIAH (2008. to 2011.) THE RITES meets RnR or something like that. Toured Europe once.
THE PATHETICS (2012. to 2013.) Rockish fast punk rock.
UGLY FUCKS (2012. to 2014.) Early 80s hardcore punk mixed with TIU but with female vocals.
THE TRUTH (2008. til present) Other members are from Kraljevo, Serbia actually, I came on drums in 2011. Hardcore punk with mostly political lyrics, toured Europe four times including Ukraine.

I hope this wasnt too long. If anyone is interesting in music of mentioned bands, let me know and I can send you download links.
