I find it impossible for me to pick one and say it is the greatest of all time. There's too many good ones. It certainly wouldn't be that Dwarves single, though it is a fine record.

Are we talking 45s or just 7"s? If the latter, though, and if I'm forced to choose, Minor Threat's 1st 7" or Negative Approach 7", though they were probably both 33 1/3 due to maximizing space given the # of songs on there, right?

I also agree with what mxv wrote about that Dwarves record.

dawrves-the cover is better than the actual record.

no mention of six pack or nervous breakdown? that would be in my top 5. if i had to pick one, the NA ep.

essentially, jealous again is a seven inch as well. any of those three would be a worthy top 5 or 10.

True, but a)Jealous Again was a 12" (that yes, could've probably fit on a 7") and b) Six Pack is just my favorite of these.

I love it, but it's not even the best Dils 45. That would be 198 Seconds of The Dils (incidentally where 7 Seconds got their name from, too). "Mr. Big" is their best song IMO.

I could never figure out, what is so special with the Fix (or the Necros).

These are so much better:

Middle Class - Out Of Vouge
D. O. A. - Disco Sucks
Misfits - Bullet
Misfits - Horror Business
Black Flag - Nervous Breakdown
Black Flag - Six Pack

And so on...

Would you consider the Misfits hardcore then?

Anyway, my knowledge/opinion is limited here because I tend to lean more toward albums than 7's.

For 7'', I think that Negative Approach or some of Discharge's 7''s would be up there.

Necros were better on the first LP than any of the early 7''s IMHO. I kinda think the 7''s are mythical because some of them are quite rare so they appeal to the collector types.

Well, Misfits are in their own league, but yeah, I think they can be considered hardcore (punk).

Minor Threat first 7˝ and Negative Approach would be obvious choices, but also:
Koro - Self Titled
Antidote - Thou Shall Not Kill
White Cross - Fascist
Youth Of Today - Can´t Close My Eyes
Unity - You Are One
D. R. I. - Dirty Rotten EP
