The Fest

I made a page for this last year, but I'll make one for this year. Am I the only one that goes to this?

They always have like at least 20 bands at that Fest I wouldn't mind seeing.

J. Robbins is performing this year, so that should be interesting.

i've been 3 times and had a blast, but haven't been too stoked on the lineups in recent years, and logistically it's been difficult now. but i'd love to go this year. sometimes it's just one band that really makes me want to go and this year it's knapsack. would love to see them again.

I guess Rob never made it back from the Fest to the fields of Iowa.

I used to volunteer/stage manage for the first 5 or so years. I haven't been in a long while even when I still lived there. It gets old when you live in that town. I don't know too many people from that town that actually go unless they are getting paid in some way. There are always a few bands that I want to see, but then I remember the hassle of dealing with the fest goers and just stay away. Sorry to be negative. I have to give two thumbs up to Tony who runs the Fest. First rate dude who does a stellar job with this thing.

Highlights for me over the years:

1. Lifetime - not quite the same as the first time around but still stellar
2. Radon - I have no idea how I missed them in the beginning - it was cool to finally see them
3. Paint it Black - every time
4. Leatherface - I had no idea someone could play that flawlessly that drunk
5. Cloak Dagger - so good
6. The Oath - Agnostic Front covers anyone
7. The Fucking Wrath - before they were signed they drove all the way from CA to play one show... the Fest - super awesome kids
8. Naked Raygun - those songs... wow
9. 7 Seconds - such a good vibe that brought young and old together
10. Ted Leo - smallish venue with everyone super into it
